Elizabeth is fighting with the CPA exam... Grrr!
I randomly decided to take yesterday off of work, and my sweetie took me shopping for my birthday! It isn’t until next Saturday – but it seemed like the perfect opportunity to spend the day together and enjoy ourselves. It was so fun!
I love shopping, but since he has been laid off we have been budgeting our funds even more than usual so it was a special treat. I found some really great bargains and we had lunch together before he helped me pick out a pair of glasses. I picked out some super cute ones that are trendy without being overwhelming – and I think it will be really nice to have a new pair for work and driving. My old pair (from college) was so scratched that I never wanted to wear them. It was so great to have his help choosing. I never entirely trust the sales people (nice lady, but every pair can’t possibly look “good”.)
I’m very contented. We both enjoyed the day a lot, and we ended it by cuddling on the couch while we watched movies before bed. He gets a gold star for the day. :)

Satisfaction!

He is feeling much better now, which makes us both happy.
Not only is he less grumpy (hee hee!), but our bedroom won’t smell like Vix VapoRub tonight. ;)

Elizabeth is fighting with the CPA exam... Grrr!
Poor kid is sick today. :(
He has been feeling crummy all weekend, although I’m hoping he feels better soon. If only he would rest a little more and take better care of himself! He insisted on going hunting tonight – even though it’s cold, damp, and overcast outside. He always has to be doing something!
At least I convinced him not to get up at 4:30 and go out this morning, which was good because he looked terrible. Instead I slept in with him – and we spent the whole morning carving pumpkins. :) It was so fun (especially once the Dayquil kicked in, lol)!
I teased him this afternooon when he was antsy and wanted to leave. I told him he should stay home, he said no (which I saw coming) and I told him it was almost like I had a husband with free will. Lame, but he cracked a smile and laughed at my quip – we both know nothing can keep him still!
Oh well. Right now I’m hoping he gets better soon and doesn’t pass it on to me. In the meantime I’m just going to enjoy pinning him down and slathering him with Vix Vaporub every night while he wrinkles his nose. He’s so cute when he makes a fuss!

Just heard a Martina McBride song on the radio and I totally love it! It makes me think of how I feel about my favorite person. It’s a little dramatic – but what about love isn’t dramatic?
It’s better with music – but I like the lyrics even without it.
I pinch myself sometimes to make sure I’m not in a dream, that’s how it seems. I close my eyes and breathe in the sweetest moments I’ve ever known – it feels like home. And here I am, I want to be your everything. There you are turning winter into spring.
And everyone who sees you, always want’s to know you, and everyone who knows you always has a smile! You’re standing ovation, after years of waiting for a chance to finally shine! Everyone calls you amazing, I just call you mine.
I fall apart – Just a word from you somehow seems to fix whatever’s wrong. Oh, you reach into the weakest moments and remind me that I’m strong. You’ve got to know I’d be a fool not to see you, even worse to forget that you’re more than I deserve.
Cause everyone who sees you, always want’s to know you, and everyone who knows you always has a smile! You’re standing ovation, after years of waiting for a chance to finally shine! Everyone calls you amazing, I just call you mine.
Nothing makes sense when you’re not here, as if my whole world disappears. Without you what’s the point of it?
Cause everyone who sees you, always want’s to know you, and everyone who knows you always has a smile!
You’re the dream that I’ve been chasin’, after years of waiting for a chance to finally shine! Everyone calls you amazing, I just call you mine.

Elizabeth is fighting with the CPA exam... Grrr!
So I thought of the most amazing wedding present for my fiance, but for a while it looked like I wasn’t going to be able to get it on time.
I had his father order what I wanted, but this particular item has been on backorder for months. He warned me that it might not arrive before the wedding. That was a real bummer, because I ordered it months ago and I really had my heart set on it.
And today I found out that it is going to be here on time! Yay yay yay! It is the most perfect present and he has absolutely no clue. I can’t wait to give it to him! Well, technically I am going to have his dad give it to him since I won’t see him the morning of the wedding, but I am going to write a really sweet letter. I just know he is going to love it!
Should I tell you what it is? You may not understand, but he loves hunting. He has been wanting a particular gun for a long time, but it is pretty expensive and he has been working so hard to help me pay for the wedding and for his school… he will totally not expect it. Especially from me. I really wanted to give him something he would treasure forever. It may not sound romantic, but trust me… he will think it is.
I am so excited!

Elizabeth is fighting with the CPA exam... Grrr!
The teachers in his department hand pick a student for a certain scholarship every year, and he got it this year! His favorite teacher totally bragged him up onstage too…
“He is one of the best students to come through the program… He learns so quickly… We wish more students were like him… He is a leader in the classroom… etc.”
I’m bursting with pride! How did I get so lucky? He is such an intelligent, amazing person. And did I mention adorably handsome?
We’re letting his curls grow out a little for the wedding, and I love it. I am a sucker for curly hair (and if our kids don’t inherit it I will feel jipped). He is such a little hotty McHotterson! The best part is, he adores me too…
I can’t believe I’ll be married to him in two short weeks. OMG!
We are two of the luckiest people on the planet.

Elizabeth is fighting with the CPA exam... Grrr!
I posted these on another goal… but I think they should be in here too. I want to keep on making him happy for the rest of my life and it was a great idea to do this right before the wedding. I think I may even give him this list as part of his present!
1. Being with me (when I’m a happy camper)
2. Hunting—he loves being alone in the woods enjoying nature
3. Fishing, but only in the summer. Ice fishing is not his favorite!
4. Eating out anywhere together
5. Cookies, he has the biggest sweet tooth ever
6. Rocky, his big goofy friendly horse
7. Writing in his calendar/journal—he likes to look back and see what he was doing five years ago on the same day
8. Tae Kwon Do, some days it is more work than fun… but he enjoys being a martial artist

19. Having the internet on his cell phone, so he can follow sports

Elizabeth is fighting with the CPA exam... Grrr!
In preparation for our upcoming nuptials I have spent a lot of time thinking about life, love, and things in general. And do you know what conclusion I’ve reached? I will not let us become one of those married couples. You know the ones. They seem to suck the spark out of eachother. He’s always at the bar (or wherever) complaining to his guy buddies about how his wife is a nag and he never gets any action. She’s constantly having coffee with the girls whining about how all men are the same, he never helps out, and all he wants is sex. Even if it isn’t quite that extreme, they just don’t seem to click anymore.
I see them together, and I know it must have been good at some point… (and if it wasn’t why did they bother to get married in the first place?) and I wonder how it got that far. Did they just stop caring? Did they stop growing together? What happened?
I won’t let it be us. I want to be the couple that you see hanging out and chatting like they’re still best friends, even though they’ve been married for decades. And that couple you see walking along the street flirting with eachother when they share a look that means “I’ve got plans for you later”. I want that to be us.
I will not let the sizzle and spark go. I refuse to settle for a so-so marriage.
I want to be the one who helps him make all his dreams become reality, and know he is there to do the same for me.
I know there will be challenges, but there will also be love.
We will not be that couple. We will work together to be a great couple.

Elizabeth is fighting with the CPA exam... Grrr!
Ok, my honey earned major brownie points this morning! He asked me what he should get me for Valentine’s and I told him he didn’t need to get me anything.
We’re trying to save money for our wedding and I figured it would be better if he didn’t spend his money on me. Plus, I’m a big enough person to admit that I didn’t want to be asked. It takes the romance out of it. I don’t expect him to read my mind, but I am a woman and I do like spontaneity.
I had resigned myself to the fact that he wasn’t going to get me anything…
And I woke up with a vase of roses on my dresser! I was honestly not expecting anything (well, I did tell him not to) and he did it for me anyway! He can be as sweet as sugar when he puts his mind to it, and I’m glad he got me flowers. I’m not the type of girl who demands or expects that kind of attention all the time, but he is learning to speak my language and he knows what will make me happy. :)
Nothing better that a heart-felt surprise!

Elizabeth is fighting with the CPA exam... Grrr!
I love him. We are a great pair, and I am happy to love this man. I wouldn’t change anything about him. Really. I love him: how his eyes change colors, and how he misses little spots by his ears when he shaves. How he can be mischevious, and then obstinate the very next minute. I love that he is passionate about the things he loves (including me). I wouldn’t even change the really annoying things. Why? Because then he wouldn’t be the man I know and love.
Marriage will be complicated. The first year will be full of changes. We will drive eachother crazy (I know us, we will), but we have a deep love for eachother. We can make it, no matter how many times we have to sit down and discuss things.
Love, and growing together will keep us stong.
The more I think about it, the more excited I am about us. I can’t wait to share his last name, a home, and spend the next couple decades getting to know eachother better. 5 years down, a lifetime to go.
Do I sound young? Naive? Idealistic? Maybe.
But we have watched both of our parents make it through 25 years of marriage. We’ve learned a lot, and we are ready to make our own mistakes and build our own home toghether.
I will work to stay in love for the rest of my life, because it is worth it. I am worth it, and he is worth it.
