I work too many hours to get a dog. This is probably something to think about when I move within a 5-10 minute drive to work. That won’t be any time soon. I’m thinking about a cat instead, but my issue is my mother is allergic. What I’m going to do is assess my situation and see how often she comes over when she gets back from out of town and go from there.

How I did it: I did a lot of research on the most appropriate breed for our family. A lot of breed-specific sites are very slanted, so take them with a BIG grain of salt! I visited Petfinder.com for several weeks and put in applications to adopt homeless dogs. It was pretty rigorous, because our family could only have a dog with certain characteristics. The dog I wanted had been promised to someone else, who decided she really d… Read how I did it…

Despite my best attempts to convince my boyfriend this is a great idea, we don’t have a dog. He reallly doesn’t like them so maybe I”ll work on a cat instead.
elzi carpe diem!
I want to have a dog, I grew up in a house with dogs, then I moved away, got a job, hang out with my friends, traveled and didn’t have time for a lonely animal at home. Now, I am more settled, there are two of us at home and I feel I can give a lot of time and attention to a lively creature. I am at the point of reading about different breeds, searching the nearby breeders and shelters and mentally preparing myself for a new member of my family.
I am thinking I want a Alano Espanol or Spanish Bulldog. Looking for a breeder in the Pennsylvania area or anywhere in the states for that matter
PamelaZimmerman long weekend- here I come!
We’re thinking about getting a puppy for my son’s 3rd birthday.
But I am worried about how our very over weight cat will react.

Don’t know… I’ve wanted to adopt a dog since I remember myself… I’ve never had one((( I guess a dog is someone you never feel lonely with… I like big dogs though… Labradors or like :)
I guess I would have to move out from parents house to adopt one… But I will, I definitely will!
we should think about:
to achieve it we can ask the ones have done this.
1.where to keep him,we should find a home for him!
2.how to feed him
3.how much time we ll give him
then we can look for one and buy him begin our dream
We decided to get one, waited a little and then changed our minds. The timings just not right, but hopefully one day! Can’t wait.
Instead, we’ve ended up adopting an old fat cat from boyfriend’s mother. I was a cat hater, but this silly fat cat is too ridiculous to not adore. He’s good company. So he’s my ‘dog’ for now…

well, I ended up getting two cats because the apartment i’m living in doesn’t allow dogs. but it’s totally alright becuase I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next three years and i don’t want to get attached and then have to leave the doggy behind, that would be unfair to the pup anyways.
So I have been dropping some not-so-subtle hints about how great it would be to have a dog. My allergic husband, however, still seems less than receptive.
So me, trying to be sneaky, switched tactics a bit. I found a video online about Teacup Pigs and brought it up as a non-allergic option. (Hoping, of course that he would allow the dog so that we don’t end up with a pig in our litte house.)
Much to my surprise, he was MUCH more receptive to the idea of a mini-pig than he was to a dog. Any kind of dog.
What to do? These little piggies are cute as anything, but you need to get 2 or else they get lonely. They require a lot more time and attention than a dog and for a lot longer (older dogs tend to be a little more self-sufficient than the pigs). Do I stick to my dog-guns and hope that he concedes, or do I go wee wee wee all the way home?
