Official Entry #4: My son, Jonah Scott.

I am very proud of my son. My son is a little over 8.

    • He is a very intelligent boy, compassionate and loving.
    • He can be very focused.
    • My mother and he walked home from school a couple times per week this past Spring. He held her hand all the way home and told her about the books he was reading or a game he was interested in or something he liked.
    • After seeing the movie Wall-E, he came home and spent a little while with the lego set, building a close replica of Wall-E.
    • He reads much above his grade level, having completed the Harry Potter series, the 3 Christopher Paolini books, and Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series, among others.
    • He is diligent and tries very hard to be careful.
    • He adores animals. If there is an animal present, he is usually there petting it.

It is really hard for me to put into works what makes me proud of my son. He is a very special little boy.

Official entry #3: My daughter just turned 10 this week. (My son will get entry #4.)

    • My daughter is a lovely child and she makes me very proud.
    • She is very likable and has many friends.
    • She makes friends easily and has come home with email addresses and phone numbers of a new friend every camp she has attended this summer.
    • I get compliments from mothers very often about her, and camp counselors tell me she is good and thank me for sending her to their camp.
    • She is nice and sweet and caring.
    • She inspires other little kids, as told to me by the mother of a child who wrote a school essay about a person he admires, my daughter.
    • My daughter is very intelligent, earning A’s and being in the highest level spelling, reading, and math classes for her grade.
    • She is modest.
    • She is talented in dance and music, her dance instructor for the past 4 years and her piano composition teacher have lavished compliments upon her.
    • She could easily play sports (if that were what her father and I stressed, but we don’t.) For instance, she came home with the Star of Trustworthiness Award from camp today, and she won the Olympics contest they had.
    • She was a part of a team that built the best boat, holding 280-or so marbles and still floating in a competition at another camp.
    • She is a follower, not a leader, but that is okay.
    • She is very good at facilitating a group dynamic and taking care of all the members of a group.
    • She gets so excited about things, she can barely contain herself.
    • She has wonderful silly stories we can tell about her growing up. She talked like a 5 year old when she was 3, but looked like an infant. She was “Super Emilynn!” putting Tupperware bowls on her head and a blanket for a cape and leaping off heights as a toddler.

My daughter is wonderful and I am very proud of her. I cannot list all the things about her that fill me with pride.

    Random Entry 3 months ago

So, I meant to take this on a different track and write an entry a few weeks ago, but life got in the way, and I didn’t get a chance. So, this will return to the people entries and hopefully some other entries will get written soon.

In Honor of My Mother 5 months ago

    Official entry #2: My mother.

My mother’s birthday was yesterday, and I had intended to write this entry yesterday, but it wasn’t meant to happen.

I am very proud of my mother and to have her as my mother. Again, I cannot list all the things about her that make me proud, but here is a glimpse of why.
    • She is generous with her time, money, and love.
    • She is especially good to my kids.
    • She handles all the crazies in her life well (she encounters crazy people in her work and relations).
    • She was one of the first 20 women to graduate with a law degree from her alma mater (a fairly well known law school).
    • She does a lot of work for the poor and needy and has been honored for that work.
    • She took care of my memere (her mother).
    • She admits where she made mistakes in her life.
    • She is very even-keel.

I could go on and on. These are just some of her personality traits and achievements that make me proud she is my mother.

    My Husband 5 months ago

Official entry #1 for this goal is my husband.

Certainly to list why I am proud of him will fall short. There are many things that make him the man I am proud of. To name a few again in no particular order:
    • he is a wonderful father
    • he is very skilled at his job and is sought after for his work
    • he has a good work ethic
    • he did most of the work in finishing our basement himself, which I used to think DIY was common but have come to find not so much
    • he puts up with me and I am not easy to live with
    • he is super funny
    • he is charming and nice, he gets along with people much easier/better than I do
    • he is supportive

I could return to this list every day and add to it. For everything on that list, I know husbands who are not like that, so I am proud of him and who he is.

This will take a long time 5 months ago

While mowing the lawn this evening, a time of reflection for me, I decided to add this goal. I was taught by religion class that pride is a sin growing up. I also spent 12 years in schools with classmates who told me in many ways I was worthless. One might think after so many years I would be over it. But I am not. This goal is to keep me on course, and help me remember. It’s a goal similar to the list the things that make me happy every day for a year.

I plan to include pictures of the things that make me proud. Some will be people in my life. Some will be my own accomplishments. And some are forth-coming, hence while this one will be on my goals list a long time. Of course, the listing will be in no particular order.

    Entry 3 22 months ago

    My vehicle inspection was today.

I guess I’ve been preparing for it. I really hate it when I fail, like I have the past two times.

This time I had a lot of work done on it, and did some of it myself!

    And it passed!!
