the head of a pinata is sitting on my desk. at first glance he looks like a llama, but there’s a golden horn on top of his head.
for some reason, looking at him really makes me happy (even though he was decapitated yesterday in the strange, brutal ritual of pinata beating).
i think he reminds me that we are not always what we seem – why shouldn’t a llama spout a unicorn horn? rainbow colored hair, a big pink heart on his chest – why not?
he must have a lovely, complicated story

and write them
I have lots of ideas and I frequently dream in stories that will continue from week to week. i’m excited because I’m starting to write more and more and develop my characters. I would love to have more time to write, rather than trying to fit it in here and there.
I continue to find great new children’s books – just picked one up about a sheep in Maine.

old friends
i love reading children’s books. my dad encouraged me to read as much and as often as i could and we took weekly trips to the library. i love the idea of a library and i remember i would sometimes check out my favorite books again and again. as an adult, i find myself remembering story lines and favorite characters, but neither title nor author of my cherished favorites!
so i’m on a mission – i scour my local used bookstores monthly to find books i once loved. i have to say that when i find one, I experience a joy like I’m encountering a dear old friend. discovering new authors and stories is an added bonus.
