Zoë was definitely born a generation too late
It became Jiminy Cricket after all…
Found a passable fabric for the coat; dark blue instead of black, but the costume as a whole turned out pretty darn good.
I have to say I felt very much stared at while cycling to school – with my face painted green and all, but it was kind of good (usually I’m the wallflower).
If you want to read more, look up the goal “dress up as a Disney character” – it has a longer description.

Zoë was definitely born a generation too late
I need to dress up as a disey character for my end of the year party (just before my finals). I’m still not sure what I’m going as, so I’m making two different costumes:
- Belle (Beauty and the beast) in her pink winter dress, and
- Jiminy Cricket (Pinocchio)
I’m having trouble finding black fabric for jiminy’s tailcoat – that’s why I’m keeping Belle as a back up plan.

Pair-o-goals, complementing go to Carnaval perhaps
I’ve made novelty headwear (this for example) but there’s also several “full-set” things I think would be very awesome. For Carnaval or equivalent event next Halloween of course, and also maybe events outside the Halloween season. I just wonder if I’ll have opportunities to actually use them and justify investing the time and effort into making them. Or maybe a “build it and they will come” mentality? (Unlikely in all honesty.)
Ideas aren’t lacking. A “full-set” to complement some of the headwear I’ve made had been on the want list--that I should have done for Carnaval and had six weeks to do it but was kinda down and out of it and it didn’t happen. It would also be very much in place for Mardi Gras, suitable event pending. This one would be a chance to substantially one-up existing and somewhat-boring designs you often see. The costuming of one of the ancillary character classes in a very famous vintage movie, near the latter part of the “color” portion to be specific, ;-) has been on the want list lately; maybe I could take this to Carnaval instead. (This underlines the need for multiple events each Halloween.) A major idea for a Christmas-themed one I thought up back in 1999 could well be extremely unique and not seen before and would be dyn-o-mite in a parade; not Goal 14 but maybe even better. I’m not gonna say what :-) but I did once see a very-much-simplified version representing the same subject matter in pictures on the internet of a big costume event, plus there’s a Cirque du Soleil character with a design attribute quite similar to what this coustume would have (it was interesting seeing it implemented for the first time).

Turned out okay. Changed the design to keep from breaking my brain. Works well enough to get the point across. Will probably not be helping Larry make a Gatling gun replica for Halloween, as tempting as it is. However I don’t know when I’ll be hopping back on this horse to get the full Lúthien gown done.

Too many fits and starts. And now, I’m making something completely different from all the other stuff. Evil League of Evil here I come…
/sigh After this one, back to the Elvish one, and then I need a break.

There are quite a few high difficulty costumes I have always desired to pull together. As a person whom prefers hand sewing, one’s options are limited when it comes to quality tutorials. Not to mention,, I haven’t anyone to aide me in these endeavours.

It pours. Somehow I keep forgetting that there is a reason I keep vowing to start my Halloween costumes earlier, and that reason is that fall is a sucky time to have a project. Shit always happens.
I’m behind, very very behind, and everyone keeps clamoring for my frickin’ time. I have a stroke of good fortune in the form of insomnia, however, and I intend to use it to my advantage. By the time Halloween comes I’ll be half dead but hopefully also dashing.

Oops I’m accidentally doing Muromachi period garb for something on Labor Day. Focus, dagnabbit, focus!

I ah, er… this thing gets more elaborate as I go along.
Let’s just say I signed myself up for more hand embroidery than I thought I might have to do.

Drafting muslin of Lúthien’s mock-underdress. Adjusting the sleeve seams to wrap around and meet the seams for the lower sleeves. Finalized the embroidery design for the trim.
