finish editing my novel

HEHinze is editing my novel for the final time!

Untitled 8 months ago

Well, I’m getting there.
So far I’ve completely re-written 4 and a half of the eight chapters I have to do, then I’m going to tweak the rest.
But darn, I’m irritated right now. I lost a page out of my spiral from my fifth chapter edits, and it was one of the hardest/most boring parts I had to write at that time. After I was done with it, I looked for it again about a week later to type it up and I lost it! I’ll just have to look harder, I guess.
Or rewrite it, which I guess wouldn’t be so hard since I have a stellar memory and talent of remembering anything from my book forwards and back.

Wish me luck! (I might need it)

EDIT: Finally rewrote the section I was missing. Whew. Remembered it better than I thought.

Working on indexing the scenes so far. I’ve designated a bunch to cut and have ideas to fill in plot holes.

I thought this would be drudge-work, but it’s actually pretty fun.

NaNoWriMo 2 years ago

I finished the story last November, but NaNoWriMo is so fast-paced that it’s really messy. I want to print out a transcript (editing 182-something pages on a computer screen? no thank you!), organize the scenes, then basically rewrite most of it. The bright side, once I get the second draft I can have my friends look at it for comments/critiques, which is always a greak boost in motivation when you have an actual audience. _ Wish me luck!

Finished Editing but not finished book 3 years ago

Okay so I finished editing the book only to find that I didn’t feel right about the ending. It didn’t jell with me which unfortunately means I have another 3 or more chapters to right. I hate that when it happens, but if I ignore the feeling, I know I’ll never be happy with the book.

I have all my edits done. I just have the ending chapters to do and it will be done.

2 More Chapters to go 3 years ago

I had the day off today and so I sat down and got a huge chunk of my book finished. I have just two chapters left to go!

It wasn’t really worth it as my first novel sucks, but you live and learn!

Light at the end of the tunnel 3 years ago

Okay I really have been trying. Every little bit helps although I still have a skeptical view about ever getting the novel out to an agent. However on the plus side:

1) I signed up for Joes goals online and I am now able to track the times that I make progress with my novel. This week I worked on it approx 4 times, which is better than nothing.

2) I am half way through the book now. I just have about 10 chapters to edit. Surely that’s not much.

3) The other night I tried to visualize the book published and sitting on my bookshelf, it actually went pretty well.

Well no progress, my excuse for the week is that I’ve been working on an article trying to get it finished.

Decisions Decisions... 3 years ago

I had a severe attack of negativity last week. A new friend that I’ve made, asked me to come out and train a young horse for her and since I had an accident training a young horse last year I was unsure about how to go forward. I knew it was a wonderful opportunity but to be honest I was scared of getting into a worse mess than last year. After a great deal of humming and hawing trying to think positively, I told her my reasons why I didn’t want to do it.

She didn’t take no for an answer and now we’ve come to a mutual compromise. I will work the horse on the ground, she will ride it and get it beyond the sticky stage with me helping her on the ground. I will ride the horse after that.

Since I talked about my worries and fears with her, I don’t feel as worried any more and now that the challenge is a little smaller than it was originally, I feel it will be a good thing.

On a smaller indecision front I almost didn’t test drive the car I was going to buy. I know I’m a woose but my husband was there and I felt happier sitting in the car reading directions while he drove. However, I told him I was nervous about test driving the car on the interstate and he agreed to driving the car on the interstate and let me drive on the smaller roads. So, after some negative feelings, I actually got to test drive the car and it felt wonderful! I think the key this week has been taking scary things, breaking them down into more manageable things and going for it.
