More than an emperor

I want to look back and see, for sure, that I have made a genuine difference, in some way, in somebody’s life. I think about this a lot and I realize how much of what I do really makes absolutely no difference. I realize that I can know someone for a year, but they would be exactly the same if they had never met me. I know, intellectually, that everyone makes an impact on the world, but I want to FEEL like I have made an impact in some way. I guess I’ve been thinking about this more since I saw “The Last Emperor.”
I don’t want to be like that emperor.
