The part finally came in last week and the window is now fixed. The cost is certainly nothing to cheer about, but at least they were able to find a re-built part, which dropped the price considerably.

Still waiting on the part  — 6 months ago

it’s going to cost more than they thought to get a used part, but still not as much as a used part. :-P

Note to self: remember you can’t use a drive-thru or ATM when you’re window doesn’t work.

Larry just came by to get the vehicle ID # off of my car, it seems they’re having trouble getting the part.

    Update:  — 6 months ago

They delivered my car back to me with the window “temporarily” up. It looks like they might have the part and be able to fix it on Monday, maybe Tuesday. Meanwhile, I don’t really trust the window to stay up like it’s supposed to, so until it warms up (and stops doing this wintery mix thing), I’m not straying too far from home unless it’s really, really important.

    So,,,  — 6 months ago

I was driving down the street in Emporia on Tuesday afternoon, after my doctor appointment, trying to talk myself into going to the gym, despite how really tired I was, when I heard a funny little bang. I looked to my left, and discovered I had no window – it had fallen off the guides (or whatever). Now if it were May, or August, or even October, this wouldn’t be quite so bad. But it’s February in Kansas, which means the temp might not get over 20 today, and the wind chill is near 0. A little cold to be driving around with my window down.

I drove home and stopped at the garage, and they put me on the schedule for this afternoon. They just called and told me the bad news – I need a new regulator for the window, which, new, runs over $200. They are going to try to get me a used one from the junkyard, which will hopefully cut the cost in half.

    I am really bummed. :-(
