The company got their act together, got him a job description and contract and as from last Monday he’s a permanent member of staff.
I think I can now mark this as complete and much quicker than I thought. Well done hubby :)

Before his 3 month contract is up he has been offered a permanent role already. This was after just over a month but as the company is restructuring it’s development teams due to growth he hasn’t got a job description or other details yet. Also they haven’t asked him to be a junior but asked him to be more senior with a small team under him.
It’s really good that he’s done so well in his very first IT job and proved his worth in a field that is so very different from his old job.
I’m so proud of him.

Hubby had another phone interview this week and at the end of the phone interview they asked him to come in for a face-to-face interview the next day. They said they’d be in touch in a week but emailed him almost immediately.
He’s got the job. :)
It’s a 3 month freelance contract but it has the possibility of turning permanent after 3 months. It’s a really nice web design company with household name clients. The office seems to be relaxed and there’s no dress code. It’s also just one bus from our flat (in the same direction I travel to work).
He starts on Monday!
We went out last night to celebrate.

Two interviews
He has a telephone interview tomorrow and a proper face-to-face interview on Monday – two different roles.
I now need to be helping him practice his interview questions tonight.
He has the interview clothes sorted out (not that he needs them for the phone interview tomorrow) so that’s not something that we will need to spend time on this weekend.

Up until last year my husband worked in a factory as a lithographic printer. He started this as soon as he left school and over 20 years later has decided he wants and needs a change.
He’s moving into web development which is a big change – from a factory to an office. He’s spent some time now developing his skills and is looking to start anytime.
It’s not an easy time being between careers but I’m trying to support him as much as I can.
