1. Things that lessen any impact on my trigger thumb, like this new phone my sweetie got me. The less the thumb participates in text messaging, the better off it is.
2. Friends who like to go to stage plays with me. I’ve missed it; I often went alone. It’s more fun now.
3. Our nightly ritual of Battlestar Galactica. Family fun.

1. The sense(s) of humor of both sons.
2. The patience of my partner, her balance, her sense of what’s important. I can’t express how grateful I am for these traits.
3. The writing of Battlestar Galactica. Whoa.
4. The patience and good graces of most drivers. When one acts badly, on purpose, it makes me appreciate the rest of the field.
5. My home. What a wonderful, warm place.

1. My trigger thumb isn’t any worse. Since my sweetie switched the computer mouse over to the other side, it’s a lot better. Still painful if I do something to it, but not omnipresent with pain.
2. My diabetes isn’t any worse.
3. My immediate family is there. We seem closer than ever, and I’m very grateful for that.
4. Baseball season is finally here!
5. Tax season is almost over.

I admire those who are reflective enough to do this.
But I was sitting here, enjoying the fireplace, feeling grateful for the warmth and for the simple fact that I’m not outside. I often do that: find myself humbled by the fact that I don’t have to sleep outside, or even be outside most of the time in bad weather.
So, here it is, Grateful that…
1. I have a warm home to return to.
2. I have a family who loves me, and whom I love.
3. My health is being held in abeyance, and I am mobile.
4. My mind is sharp enough for writing daily.
5. I can appreciate what I have.
