Celebrate my 3-year anniversary with 43T.

I let this one slip by. It was 4/10/2006 when I discovered 43T .. a website which changed my life.

I was sitting in Ume’s sweet apartment in ShinOsaka, when she said “Ma, you have to join this site. Have a look – it’s awesome!”

Well, the rest is history, and awesome it certainly is..

From originally checking in once or twice a week, I so look forward to logging in every morning and catching up with all “my friends”..

Who would have believed I could have so many subscribers? Certainly not me…

You all have been a witness to my life for quite a while now, through all the good and not so great times.

I feel that I have come such a long way, and am certainly more motivated to achieve and accomplish goals, that maybe I only used to think about, and maybe not put a time frame on.

I have become a better person through this site, and always try to push myself a little harder.

I have become accountable not only to myself, but to a wider community – you my dear friends!

I will be forever grateful to everyone here, for your kindness, encouragement, amazing friendships, the laughter, the fun, the sage advice and the support.

I only just realised that my three-year anniversary was two days ago! Life has changed so much since I first made the decision to join on October 11th 2005. I’d initially stumbled across the site some time around the preceding August (I think), when I bookmarked it to return to at a later date.

Then: I was fresh at the end of my first marriage, trying to figure out what the heck I was all about, what I wanted to do, and where I wanted to go.

Now: I’ve spent a little under two years living in and working in the UK. Matty and I are a month away from our first wedding anniversary. I have a much better sense of the real me, and I like where I am. There’s still a heck of a lot of room for growth, but I feel I now consist of a solid core, rather than an empty shell. (Pardon the pun.)

As ever, I’m extremely grateful for the wonderful people I’ve met and ‘met’ through 43T: inspiring, supportive, smart, creative and loving – the lot of you. Still shaking my head at how this ever-evolving community could have such an impact.

And didn’t even finish my to-do list. But I’m on vacation from work right now so I’m feeling laid back, and I just don’t care! Let’s pretend my adventure to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art was my celebration and call it done :-)

On June 30, 2008 – the end of this month. I feel like I should do something to honor this anniversary, since 43T has been so instrumental in me making changes in my life.

Maybe I’ll step up my efforts on my various goals and also take a look back at some of the things 43T has helped me do.

It was a couple of days ago

Three years has gone by quickly. I haven’t been very mindful this week about much…. I wish I had been.

43things and the lovely people here have helped me through what are probably the most difficult times in my adult life. Through bad health, bad marriage, helping to ground me in the midst of so much chaos. It’s been a consistent source of kindness, encouragement and understanding. That’s so amazing. And I feel very fortunate to be able to use 43things.

Okay, so it wasn’t the best of days since I have these on-going health problems right now, but I did take the time to get on here for a few minutes. I also took the time to focus in on my health related goals tonight on my drive back to MS and have smoothies rather than fast food or other junk for dinner. Last year I had a big celebration and it doesn’t seem like that long ago…I guess time flies when you’re having fun. I also want to take the time to encourage every 43Ter to really go after some of their goals in celebration of my three years here.

Yea 43T!!!!
