I went to art school a long time ago, and bought the book about 20 years ago. I’d like to try it again. I’d also like to take a course - I wish that it was taught somewherel.

The ‘New’ Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain just arrived in the mail today- I ordered it from ebay. I also got the workbook to go with it. Looks like it will be a valuable and fun tool to get me back into drawing and improve my creativity!
I started messing around with this book after I got out of high school, but never finished it. Now, my daughter’s in high school, and I gave her a copy of the book a couple of years ago. She got about as far as I did. I thought if I picked it up again, she might find a renewed interest in it and maybe we could work it together.
cranraspberry postponing most of my goals to focus on a few at a time.
I am already a better-than-average artist, but I want to become better, especially at portraiture. My problem is mostly with perceiving the relationships between wholes. Details are no problem for me; seeing the whole picture is. When I draw something large, every piece is like a picture taken with a different focus. Put them together, and the pieces don’t fit.
I’ve also read this book, but I’ve never gone through the whole thing or done all the exercises consecutively. I shall now take it like a course, instead of a passing fancy.
I’ve always admired anyone who has the ability to draw something beautiful. I was amazed to pick up this book which says anyone can draw, it’s like learning to drive. I’ve bought the book. I started going to an art class but the teacher was hopeless so I left. I want to learn to draw first, then learn to paint watercolour. I would like to be able to draw & paint well enough to have my pictures hang on someone else’s wall (and mine).
...I’ve taken several drawing classes, etc…but I’m just so out of practice. I hate that I’ve let my talent go to waste.
After a few tries, I like my post-instruction self portrait. This small photo shows my original pre-instruction portrait inset in the bottom right. Drawing this portrait wasn’t easy…but, I’d say I’ve improved a lot!
I posted a larger version of my final self portrait here: http://mydesignselfstudy.com/?p=101
I’ve wanted to do the Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain course for ages. I have had the book for about two years now. I’ve had all the materials for at least a year and a half, maybe longer. But, man, was it hard for me to get myself to do those three initial drawings. But, tonight I finally did it! Yay! I’m pretty excited. I’m hoping that now that I’ve started, all sorts of positive momentum will catapult me into continuing to read the book and draw and draw. Wish me luck, folks!
I’ve completed the lights and shadows chapter:

I’m working through “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” as part of my own design self study here:

It’s taken my 7 months to get this far!
