My three month powertrain warranty covered my gearbox problem. I got a new good used gearbox, all for free! :)
So recently, i’ve had the front brake pads done, the brake and clutch fluids changed, 4 new tyres, a wheel alignment, a check on the brakes after I got what sounded like a stone stuck in them (no damage luckily) and a new (used) gearbox!
It hasn’t been cheap, but it’s neccessary. Gemima is a lot smoother now that she has a new gearbox. When I first got her the gears were a bit jerky, but mum told me it was the driver. I tried to be smoother, but it still wasn’t the best. Since she has a new gearbox she has been really smooth which makes me think that it wasn’t the driver but the gearbox all along.
Anyway, she’s well now, all I need now is to clean all of my stuff out of my car! :)

was making a weird noise. Went to the mechanic asap. Something wrong with the pinion bearing in the gearbox. Crosses fingers that the warranty that came with my car covers this. That’s all I have time to say. I am without my car for who-knows-how-long. :(
Edit: Question: How much will this cost to fix?
Answer: More money than i’ve got.

I had to have new brake pads put on my car. I have only had it for about 16 months, so I was surprised I already needed them. I got my oil changed last Wednesday and the tires rotated. I have been keeping up with all the maintenance pretty well. The only thing is that it needs washed desperately, but I haven’t been able to take care of that lately. I will maybe be able to take it the next few days.

Rio against City
u see, i got my Lancer GTi as a hand-me-down.. and i got it at such an imperfect shape…
never thought i’d be looking at it any different.. i still dont :/ but then again i dont want it a burden, and in no way i want it to break down on me anytime soon
so.. i just want a car that looks good, with maintenance every now and then..
i want a/c repaired, i want the dents from drunk driving it to be detailed.. maybe a paint job too? :P

I washed my car on Sunday and it took forever to get all the freaking bugs off the front end. That is a serious job to wash that bad boy. I figure it’s got to provide me with a little exercise and it’s cheaper than the $22 I pay at the car wash…

New driver-side CV axle
(I broke down and went back today to have the work done. I’d hate to have something totally unbearable financially happen as a direct result of neglecting this issue.)
I still need the alignment, and I may have to donate plasma to recoup the wedding expenses, but it was WORTH it. I feel like such a grown-up.

Purchased and installed four new tires.
Was informed desperately needed new driver’s side CV axle repair and alignment.
I have to figure out how to come up with $230 for these two repairs. They absolutely must be repaired before I drive to Fayetteville, NC in June for my friend’s wedding. Calling my father makes me physically ill from the anxiety and stress, but I called and left a message. Maybe he will call back. Maybe he will help me. He did, after all, not send me anything at all for my graduation or for my birthday (which were in the same week.) But before I even called him, I went to my bank to apply for a credit card. I’d rather put it on credit than ask him for money, that’s how bad interaction with him is. If I don’t get approved for a credit card, and my father refuses to help me, I will have to sell a lot of books and donate a lot of plasma in a short amount of time.

I live in a place and attend a college in which the norm is for one’s parents purchase a nice car, maintain it, and insure it. I’ve never been so lucky as to live like that-but in August my grandparents did surprise me by purchasing outright a 1994 Mazda Protege for me to have in my name. I am so utterly grateful for that car that I want to take great care of it.
