I feel that over the last ten years we no longer live in a free society.
Everything we do is watched by surveillance, and we have to think in a politically correct way. The Police have ridiculous powers that should be uncceptable in a free society both here and in the US. In the UK we have there thousand new law and taxes. What ever did we do before them? Anyone notice we are better off for them? No. Many of them are because of the US legal culture of compensation….its to make lawyers rich. We can’t smoke in public, we dare not criticise the government or question things like animal rights ideology. There are pressures from christian fundamentalism that would deny women their rights. Pressures from the liberal left that would stop people hunting or smoking. In the UK they are talking about dna databases and ID cards. There is pressure to stop us using private vehicles, and those who even want to control what we eat. Supermodels are stopped from working cos they are too skinny, and fat people criticised for causing a burden on health budgets. Minorities are under pressure to conform to values that not even I share. I will not fly the flag of a nation where the traditional activity of foxhunting is banned and I have to smoke in the street. The moslem is criticised for wearing the traditional burkha. There are those who not only try to stop others wearing fur but also try to prevent people like inuit selling sealskin which provides their only income. Then we invade countries around the world and pretend its about civilised values when it is nothing more than moral and economic imperialism and oil.
Many of these ideas…like animal rights and health fascism, you may be surprised to learn originated in Nazi Germany. Health and animal rights propaganda fills the media because they have huge advertising budgets from half wits who do not question it. Because they are such big advertisers, the media don’t question it.
And all the time we let it happen while our media fills our heads with mediocre entertainment for morons and third rate journalism for the lowest common denominator. If you want to know what is happening in the world you have to watch Russian tv.
Time to kill the cheerleader.
