design and make clothes for myself

i have always wanted to make my own clothes and when i go into shops they dont seem to have the type of clothes i want

i am going to make this happen, i love doing it just need to get my sewing machine fixed and away i will go, and then maybe this will help me with some of my other goals, like stop eating crap! and lose the last few kgs! and to clear some of the crap i have around my house, collecting retro fabrics seemed like a great thing to do when i started…sighs….

I love to design clothes, but I can’t make them. I usually have my mother actually sew them together, but they NEVER come out how I want. Once I learn to make & use patterns and sew them, I’ll be good!

I’ve designed loads of stuff, and made a skirt and a couple of tops. i really want 1 of those adjustable dress forms, but they dont go small enough for me.

I designed sevral outfits for myself, ut because I really want them to turn out well, I’ve used the best tailors I know.The results till now whave been encouraging:)

last night I saw two masses of fabric lying in a room & decided they’d make a lovely dress:an empire waist long shirt and pants.I decided upon the pattern, bought embellishments & will give it for stiching tomorrow when the tailor comes to drop off my dresses.Yeah, I like that arrangement;saves me the rouble of running to him everytime I need to give something or pick something.

I designed a polka dotted dress today, with lightly puffed short sleeves, a double collar, 3 buttons in front and a clinshed waist(still with a 50’s flava) though less flary at teh bottom.. pref white dots on red.. but I want it to come out really good so i will take it to my tailor, once he makes my earlier dresses nice…(I hope so!)
Also want to buy that black n white printed fabric.. I must have a black n white dress too.

I gave 2 dresses for stiching.. keeping my fingers crossed…I hope they come out lovely.One is a sleeveless wrap dress,with a belt…another a lovely blue print, with 3 quarter sleeves, a clollar, cuffs and a smart sash! Now I need to add a white kurta, nice shoes and an off white and a plain white top to my wardrobe to complete it.. Somsome fabric waits to be turned into festive suits- another cousin is due to be wed towards end of this year. and all this being confined to bed, is anyway driving nuts, hence my creative energy seeks an outlet in form of putting what I have to good use… Now that I have plenty of time, I dont have so much money(such a paradox), but later I jsut wont have the temp..so two more suits, n I am done:)

Took out sevral pieces of fabric that I had been hoarding…even bought fabric for a dress I’d seen in a mag n liked…I’m on my way!
