How to buy a new pair of glasses
How I did it: I've been wanting to do this for a long time, even before I wrote this goal back in January, 2007, but I put it off because I didn't want to spend the money. I had two pairs of old glasses and was wearing the newer of the two pairs because the prescription was current and they were lighter weight. One night maybe two months ago I went to bed and put the glasses on the night table. During the night I was woken by my cat flinging the glasses off the table. I was half asleep and decided to pick them up in the morning. The next morning they were gone and I never found them. They weren't in the immediate area, but if I spent time searching, I suppose I would have found them. I never found the time to devote to the search, and it was time to schedule my annual appointment anyway, so decided to go ahead and get the new pair. I found out my insurance reimburses at least part of the cost, but I still don't know how much. I hope the majority because I spent over $500 on them and I don't know how long it will take to be reimbursed. I figured I should go ahead and get them though while I have an insurance plan that will cover at least part of it, so I decided there was no better time than now to get them. So now I have a nice pair of glasses, and yes, I got the transitions glasses (part of the reason they were so expensive). If I ever feel like wearing glasses instead of contacts, these are the glasses to do so with (my last pairs, especially the older pair were really for home only because they weren't so nice).
Lessons & tips: Get glasses if you need them. If you already have a pair of glasses that work, wait til you have the money to buy the new pair. Glasses are expensive! Take your time finding frames that look good on you.

Elizabeth is fighting with the CPA exam... Grrr!
I had an eye appointment last week and I have the prescription I need pinned down… but I don’t have my glasses yet.
I tried a couple pairs on but none of them felt like me. Actually they all looked super dorky on me. I know I just need them for reading/driving, but is it wrong to want a pair of glasses that looks semi-cute?
I might have gone ahead and picked out a pair but the helper girl was being kind of pushy and made me nervous to commit. She complimented every pair I tried on so I didn’t think I could trust her judgment.
I am going back in a few weeks with my hubby – because I know he won’t lie to me about my dorkiness. I can always count on him to tell it to me straight, whether I want that or not lol!
Hopefully I can settle on something that makes me look more ‘hot librarian’ than 9th grade math geek.

Honestly! I am tired of not being able to see anything. I know it’s my own fault since I never wear my glasses… but they’re so old. And scratched. And boring.
I can’t wait until I get my insurance and I can buy a nice new pair. Then I can wear them to work, and be able to see tiny numbers in spreadsheets, and not look dumb because I’m squinting all the time.
If I don’t get insurance soon, my poor little eyes are going to get crows feet from all the squinting.
Must make an appointment in June!

I’ve had the same pair of glasses since I started college, and it is time for a change. They’re just reading/driving glasses, since my prescription is really weak and my astigmatism isn’t that bad… but they are invaluable for school and work since I do a ton of reading/typing. My prescription should actually be stronger than it is, but I refused to buy a new pair the last time I got my eyes checked because the difference was so slight. (In my defense, my eye doctor said I could get away with it.)
I like wearing glasses because sometimes I really do feel more intelligent! I know it is ridiculous, but it helps me sleep at night. :)
Sadly, they have been beaten and abused. The poor lenses are scratched and loose in their frames… I guess thats what five years of schooling can do to a pair! Actually, I think I’m the only one who can tell how bad they are, since most of the damage is “cosmetic”, but still.
As soon as I get insurance when I start my job full-time in June I want to get a new pair. A nice shiny new pair to get me started in my new career. A pair that doesn’t make me look like a poor college student everytime I put them on. A pair that makes me feel and look smarter.
My goal is to have a new pair of glasses in 4.5 months.
Since my eye surgery, my glasses have actually become a nice friend. My contacts are kind of wonky, because my eyes are so dry, that I tend to avoid them now unless I’m exercising or going out. My glasses now are so much lighter than they used to be, and a lot cheaper to buy, so I don’t feel bad about having to wear them.
I’d actually like to own a few pairs, so I can start to coordinate them with my outfits. My current pair are brown, and I’d like a blue or purple pair, and possibly a black pair. There’s a deal at Pearle Vision where you can buy one full pair and get the second full pair for free. Of course, I’d likely have to spend about 200 of my own money in addition to my benefits, and that would mean I’d have to buy my contacts with my own money as well. But the idea is definitely appealing!
I dont’ even know how old my glasses are. At least 5 years definitely. I haven’t replaced them because my prescription hasn’t changed much if at all and I only wear them at home, but now I think it’s time. Maybe I’ll get the ones that tint in the light. I guess I’ll wait til my next eye appointment so I get the most current prescription.
I can see! I have glasses!
And don’t I look even more nerdy then before? :-D
I went today & got an eye exam… expensive, but worth it.
My dad stole mine about two years ago, and I haven’t had glasses since. It’s been killing me. I actually liked glasses, and having to wear contacts all day every day is a pain in the buttocks.
I’ll buy myself a new pair… sometime this summer? Perhaps?
a simple one (so that I know I can acheive at least one fairly soon). What a cheat !!!!
