I think I’ve found someone who will give private lessons, for only $10 an hour! Everywhere else I’ve seen lessons advertised for about $40 an hr, and that’s the group rate. Not only that, but this is close to home—just 12 miles down the road. Hope this one works out.

I witnessed the most amazing thing over the weekend. A competition of horsemen (and women) shooting old west sixguns and lever action rifles, at full gallop. And in authentic period costume. The competition is organized by the Single Action Shooting Society (www.sassnet.org). Most of their competition is for us pedestrians; the mounted competition attracts the cream of the crop. It is spectacular. You would not believe that a person could shoot a single action revolver that fast, accurately, on horseback at full gallop. One of the guys, dressed as a Pony Express rider, was good enough to have ridden in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show a century ago. Incredible!
