So helpful, so kind…and it was free.

So grateful for the Downtown Boathouse volunteers, who brought over their kayaks from NYC, and helped big folks and little folks into kayaks, and gave us our first experience of navigating the Hudson by…boat.
Water was choppy, even scary. It’s an act of physical meditation to make sense of whether you should paddle or not. Beastly hot today, but there were river breezes. And that insanely beautiful Manhattan skyline.
I’ll be doing it again.

Because in ten minutes, I’m heading to the Hudson River to stand in line…to kayak…

but I know I have a few more weeks left with the downtown boathouse folks…next step, making a plan…

It was…ecstasy. I must have more.
I’m a volunteer at the Downtown Boathouse, which is a non-profit dedicated to providing free public access to the waterfront. Which means we let people kayak the Hudson for free (provided that you follow the rules and don’t try to paddle to Jersey). Check us out at www.downtownboathouse.org for more info!
