A routine is something i feel i am going to need in september, as i will be doing …
In 6th form – Dance, Drama, Performing arts, Textiles, Maths
College- Hairdressing NVQ1
And have a show at christmas to perform in. I feel thats going to be pretty hectic as 2 nights a week will be consumed by hairdressing.I will need to manage my time well to keep up on it all.
So i am going to start by setting myself a simple night time routine and morning one (this will change in september as i will have 6th form)
- Have breakfast (9.00-10.00)
- Brush teath
- wash face and hands
- get dressed
- do hair and makeup
- Get into PJS
- Take of makeup
- Brush teach
- Face clensing
- Quick pick up of bits round my rom
- Bed (10.30-11)
I am going to try and stick to this, not sure how, because i will probilly forgett what order i am suposed to be doing things in, so i will come on hear and use it as my little check list. But i guess as i keep doing it, it kinda comes second nature right?

Well, it took some time to figure out what really needed to be in the routine and get it all down but it’s done. Now I just need to work on the procrastination to actually do the routine.
The few days that I have done most of it I have felt a lot better and been able to get a lot more done.

It only dawned on me when I suddenly broke free of my routine, that most of it wasn’t good! A break from what you always do is a marvellous thing, people.
Still, some things are worth keeping:
- No matter what I end up doing, studying is always the first thing I think I should be doing
- The smallest of commitments to the gym is what it took to make me stick to it – something so tiny, the excuses couldn’t win
- I don’t even think about coming home from work and making dinner – takeaway? What is takeaway?
- A week should include a bath; a day should include reading. I could do better, but I do relax!
- Bedtime and awake time just… happen, and at sensible moments.
The real routine stuff are things I don’t even think twice about, like brushing my teeth. And that’s built in to the bedrock, people!

MSc- Mon: argh, quite frankly
- Tue: I’m giving up for the day, I’m shattered :(
- Wed: I was getting sick to the back teeth of reporting nothing, so I just bloody well sat and did a section!! It didn’t take very long, even!
- Thur: CH/w reading; 2 java sections
- Fri: java – just one section, but had to figure out a problem, and in the process learned something new about string input! Def want to revise string methods, too.
- Sat: java, again just one section, but at least it was something
- Sun: java, one sections and an exercise that made me pretty happy to have cracked :)
Creativity- Mon: had fun decorating the envelopes for all my xmas cards, and made a bday card
- Tue: xmas card
- Wed: finished xmas card
- Thur: day off from card making! ;)
- Fri: finished and posted a movie review
- Sat: design/prep of final xmas card
- Sun: made cinnamon shortbread hearts, cut marzipan stars, and finished final xmas card!
Physical- Mon: my back’s been bothering me, so did a fair bit of stretching. Hurt my hip! Need stronger thighs, too (this is starting to sound rude!)
- Tue: dr appt – 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk? :) Would be really great to do lots more walking, actually. Pondering.
- Wed: bus -> restaurant this afternoon was a heck of a trail, including one of the infamous huge great big staircases in Edinburgh! I’ve always struggled going up stairs – the back of my thighs are pretty powerful, but I can’t last 2 minutes on the gym’s step machine. Something I’d like to work on!
- Thur: too cold for walking; snuggle day!
- Fri: ear problems, sore leg, and quite frankly just can’t be bothered! Although am feeling so chubby I know I really should.
- Sat: another Saturday, another sinus headache. Not as bad as last week and shifted it quicker, but left me feeling drained. Long bath!
- Sun: really thought this wasn’t going to happen today – I did want to go to the gym before it closed, but between everything else I also wanted to do and ear/snuffle problems… So instead, I walked home from the supermarket – not quite as energetic as a treadmill session, but it was almost as long AND less time consuming (!), had added fresh air, and I still worked up a sweat/hunger :) Plus, lots of fruit today trying to use it up before going away for xmas.
Mental- Mon: was lying in bed this morning and realised I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed and busy, and not in control of what I’m doing with my time. And thus focusing on what I’ve not been doing instead of celebrating what I have achieved.
- Tue: ye gads, I’m tired. There is just too much to do at this time of year!!
- Wed: feel like I’ve come to the end of a hectic period, and after going a little bit easy on myself (ie tonight) I want to get back into the game proper (ie studying, mostly!). But I’m also feeling all buoyed up about the new year/start (arbitrary as it is), and VERY keen to tie up 2007 in outstanding style! :)
- Thurs: new goal also set out a draft set of New Year’s resolutions
- Fri: tired and looking forward to a lot of relaxing, and then some productivity!
- Sat: been a good day for doing what needs done, despite knackeredness. Have that ‘almost there’ feeling, and a will to tie a pile of things up (a) before I depart for family xmas time, (b) before the end of the (arbitrary as it is) year, and (c ) while I’m on holiday, even though it hasn’t started yet!
- Sun: really loving my first things first goal at the moment: I feel more productive than ever! Not sure why this is different from other to do lists, but if it’s working – brill! I suppose there’s also a ‘only x days left’ (of the year) feeling, making me step up my efforts somewhat. But I’ve managed studying, creativity, relaxation, fun, AND more exercise than I’d expect. It’s not much for the latter, but that my intentions lasted beyond the initial setting is a small bonus already!
summary
Busy week! I have a feeling it’s been more short-term, running up to Christmas/finishing up at work/going to my folks’ for a days, rather than a sustainable level of activity – I’m pretty knacked! On the other hand, it shows what I can do, when I have a solid list of things I can’t really put off.
Not as much studying as I’d hoped, but I am twitching to be able to sit and give it my all, and not be distracted by half a dozen other things! Long may that feeling last – all the way into fruition!!
