It was so recently you were writing about his birthday, and now he’s gone. The upside is that it appears you had a really good relationship and have no regrets; the downside, of course, is how much you’ll miss him from now on.

I still miss my Dad and father-in-law a lot, even though they’ve been gone a long time, so I can relate.

We had just spoken about our dads and it came through so clearly how much you admired and loved your father. There’s little that we can do to ease the pain, but know that each of us here is thinking of you and that your dad knew you loved him.
