Update: I got my restricted licence a few months ago; no more l-plate or 70km/h restriction! All going smoothly. Need to do some skills training such as emergency breaking. Expect to work on that over summer and perhaps get my full early next year…!

I have always loved the idea of motorcyles while having little to no knowledge of how they work and/or the ultimate responsibility to own one.
Approximately 1 month ago I saw 2 guys, friends, out on their bikes enjoying the sunshine and laughing. It hit me – I need to be one of those guys.
So, I scheduled a driver safety course to get my license for August 1st and 2nd. I got my permit last week and I am so psyched to have the months of August and September to get out on the road.
I’ve decided to get a Honda Shadow (Rebel) for my 1st bike and am shopping around for that right now.

I’m so sick of watching youtube videos of happy motorcyclists cruising around, burning rubber and having a great time and not being able to do it myself. So, its time to get a license. I have already signed up and will hopefully start within this month. Hopefully, I will fit on the bike (Honda CB 500) considering I am 2meters tall…

I started class last weekend and it was great! A bit stressful the first day though because I had lost my actualy paper learners permit and almost got booted from the class. But I found it and it is going well. The road test is scheduled for next week!
I’ve got my permit, which is good for like 3 years. I plan to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Basic RiderCourse when they start up again in March or April. Besides getting some good training, successfully completing the course waives the road test required for the license, so I’ll just be able to walk in and get my endorsement once I pass the class.
I actually wanted to get it before I got my regular license, but the classes here are kinda expensive. I want to get it before I’m 21, we’ll see how that goes!
