Go to Peru
How I did it: I went with my church on a mission trip to Chimbote, Peru. We spent a lot of time planning everything out and fundraising, and finally took our trip in June of 2008. We got the oppertunity to meet many people, both children and adults, learn some spanish, and make a difference. The people there treated us with so much respect it made you feel almost like a celebrity. As soon as we would step out of the place we were staying, children of all ages would run up and kiss you on the cheek and then grab your hands and walk with you. They were so friendly and happy. They had so little, but were so grateful and happy, that it seemed they weren't even worried about the conditions they were living in. It was so inspiring. The trip was worth every second and i would do it again in a heartbeat.
Lessons & tips: Learn a little Spanish so that you're able to communicate at least a little bit when you get down there. Also, if you get the chance, spend as much time as you can with the people. You will not regret that.

Amazing, challenging, beautiful. The Inca Trail will gladly hand you your ass if you’re not prepared, but Machu Picchu will reward you generously for your efforts…This was an adventure of a lifetime that I will never forget and will always fondly remember…
It has been over six years since the last time Ive been in Peru. Man, I really miss it. I miss the food and stress free life. Hopefully my dream of going back will happen next year, 2009.
I’m going to go to Peru in 2008, I hope in within the first 6 months. I don’t have specific plans yet, but I think that if I haven’t made the trip within the year, the resason for wanting to go will have ceased to exist.
