Haven’t taken a picture yet but I will. I bought a large beige area rug (8’9” by 10’) and bought cream canvas shades. Already looks better. I can’t wait for the DH to go to work tomorrow, then I’ll try out the new ugly chair cover. We compromised that I’ll cover it when we have company, otherwise I’ll be covering it and he’ll be uncovering it everyday and that will get old pretty fast. Still need:
pictures for the wall
something to put dvds in
find the magazine basket
wall coat rack? (we have a standing one but it looks really messy)
shoe cubby?
mirror?

It’s a terrible picture but a better pic wouldn’t help it look any better. The carpet is ugly, the chair is ugly and I’m having a hard time finding a good slipcover, I’m not sure if I can/should paint and I’m feel like my decorating muse is shrinking to it’s death. Plus there’s brightly colored baby things all over the place. On the plus side, the house is clean, still has everything I need, in a decent neighborhood, and is fairly new. It’s not that bad it’s just not a reflection of me at all.

the DH’s hideous chair
He has agreed to let my put a slipcover over it with the exception that it will be taken off on all important Mets games. I can live with that. And to you sports guys, I’m not mean, you try to convince your wife to decorate around blue AND orange. He should be lucky it’s going in the living room at all.

I’m taking the plunge. I will see this ugly blue carpet as a “challenge.” I will give this ugly duplex personality. I am going to accept that practical and functional triumph quirky and emotional yet once again. And I am going to learn to be okay with that.
So challenge number #1 is the carpet
