When I look back on the circumstances of how I met my husband, I can say with a fair level of certainty that had Gary Gygax not created all that he did… I probably wouldn’t have ever crossed paths with my husband.
So for the things in my life that are so amazingly coonected to the vast and endless world of D&D… there is Gary Gygax to thank.

That I haven’t played D&D this century but I still saw these and thought, “Oh, I totally need those.”

but clearly his legacy will live on. D&D is a game that still encourages people to use their imagination in an age where that doesn’t happen nearly often enough. i can say that i’ve had some great times playing and Gary will certainly be in my thoughts.

efbq still feels like her head is stuffed with cotton wool
In the 1980’s he was invited to speak before a small group of psychiatrists, and my father invited me to join in. He was opinionated, and egotistical, and very much a human, not a deity.
Still, I mourn. I think there will be a wake held soon.

I’m sad that I never got to meet you, but I am so glad that I could be a part of what he helped to create.

He pulled things together to create something that reached beyond his dreams.

but in reading the tributes, I just felt a need to stand up and say, yes, this man changed my life.
Yes, I own both 1st and 2nd edition books.
Yes, I have at least 5 full dice sets – wouldn’t want to mix up the vibes of the different characters?
Yes, I have had many discussions that used stats and alignments to explain other people’s and my own alignments.
Yes, I was a Dungeons and Dragons player. I still would be if I a) had a group and b) I had the time.
So to the man who invented the platonic solids as dice, hit points, and saving throws, thanks, man.
