a thank you note (using up some more of my cranes bee stationery!) to Hubby’s grandmother for giving me the car she no longer can drive. It’s a cherry ‘97 Ford Taurus. A gleaming emerald green. Less than 20,000 miles on it. No joke. She offered it just in time as my faithful berry-colored Sentra, who has stood by me since senior year of high school, was beginning to utter her death rattles. Funny that my ‘98 Sentra has about 130,000 miles on it, and I bought it in December 2001 with 18,954 miles on it. Wowee, I used to drive a lot.

So now I have to find/purchase a stamp and send it off. But yay me!

I am so grateful to her. My cup runneth over!

a quick note to best friends Katherine and George who recently moved to Philly for K’s grad school/G’s professorshipness:

    28 August 2008

    Dearest Katherine and George,

So very happy to hear you’re settling so nicely in Philadelphia. I cannot wait to have a visit and explore the city with you. A Sunday day trip is certainly in order—do let me know what would be a good weekend for you two.

I have enclosed some presents for you—my world famous bookmarks! I would like to meet G’s pup and the new Kitty before I make theirs. Hope they understand.

Taylor joins me in wishing you all much health and happiness in your new home. All of Baltimore misses you much too much.

    Love,
    Jahna Mae Walsh Ermer

used some cute crane's honeybee stationery  — 2 weeks ago

A home for my stationery!  — 2 months ago

This week at work, a customer a ordered set of pads with a nice desktop holder, but the holder came in chipped so we got a new one sent and that one came in chipped, so we got a new one. I got to have one of the chipped ones, so now I have a beautiful black holder for all my stationery, as opposed to the sawed-off shoe box in which it’s currently living. Huzzah!

Boss is cleaning out her office, so you can be sure, there is a ton of free paper/stationery to be had. Hey, at least I’m not buying said stationery!

thank you for thanking me  — 5 months ago

I received a letter from kavi in india, very pleased and delighted with my note. we’re going to bring the longhand letter back, we’ve decided.

a side note, my great aunt cried from my condolence note and showed a lot of people, according to my grandma. that makes me happy that i was able to use words to bring her joy and comfort in her time of need. i think i might write all my elderly relatives just to say “yo, wazzup?” in flowery language.

wedding thankyous and announcement WILL go out before April 20th (6 month mark). I ordered our calling cards with our new address today to match the announcements, so i need to get to writing. ummm, as soon as I unpack the 230503450345 boxes in my apartment, that is.

sat at the cafe today and wrote thank you notes to all our strapping young friends who lent a hand helping us move, also inviting them for drinks saturday night. we’ll see how it goes.

and now, off to the post office to change my address!

    huzzah!

    condolences  — 6 months ago

Sent a condolence note to my great aunt whose husband just passed, within 24 hours of hearing news. With sympathy notes, less is often best.

On a plain, ecru Crane’s folded note:

    Dear Aunt C,

I am deeply grieved when I think of the loss of your husband, my dear Uncle M. My husband joins me in offering our sincerest condolences. We are thinking of you at this difficult time.

    With love from your niece,

    Jahna W.E.

go me  — 6 months ago

Spent my last three sleepless nights writing LONG LONG LONG overdue wedding thank you notes. They’re coming along. I really must have them all out well before April 1, that’s the goal.

Also got a card for my friend Becky who just had a baby girl and wrote her a note.

Drafted a termination of lease letter to my landlord. Getting it sent certified tomorrow. GULP. I hope we can find a place!

Last night, while lying awake for endless hours, I envisioned our new stationery. I think I’ve finally chosen some. Perhaps when tax return comes back, we’ll treat ourselves. Thinking, an ecru correspondence card, either blind embossed or engraved in grey ink with our names, and a grey envelope lined in ecru, no return address so I can order a lot of stationery. I’m pleased with this gender neutral selection. We’ll see how long I can stick with it.

note and package  — 7 months ago

Finally wrote that note to Kavi in India. Next challenge is to send it off!

Today I went to the post and mailed my friend in Maine a b-day card, wedding announcement, and a decision dice, since we recently talked about the post-grad decision making blues.

I need to write letters. Would anyone like one?

    tea!  — 7 months ago

My brother’s sister-in-law (if that make’s any sense… it’s my brother’s wife’s brother’s wife… her name’s Nat, anyhow) recently visited our mutual friend Kavi in India. Kavi sent me back some Darjeerling and biscuits in a cute little bag with Nat for me. I am about to dash off a quick thank you note to Kavi. Might include a wedding announcement, since if lived here, I certainly would have invited her. Anyhow, just facebooked Nat to thank her for being courier and to ask for our friend’s address. I hope she won’t tell K because I’d like it to be a surprise. Nat knows K and I talk on fb I think, so i think she would get that’s why I asked her instead—for a surprise.

(I suppose I shouldn’t add this entry until I actually put pen to paper, because I am bursting with good intentions. Oh, well. I really feel I will actually do this, though.)
