I forgot I even had this goal on my list, to be honest, and I accomplished it a few weeks ago. I spent some time listing all the yarns and needles I have on ravelry.com, bought a big box from IKEA to keep them all stored in and now everything is one easily accessible place. And have since managed to refrain from buying any more yarn. I even walked into a craft shop with 33% off most of their yarn range and walked out without buying anything. Amazing.
I think sometimes I just like imagining the potential of a ball of yarn than actually creating anything with it. That way it is enormous pressure on the ball of yarn and less on me and my less than spectacular knitting skills. I really have to try and finish more projects.

I don’t know if I want to do this. Do I really want to know how much yarn or how many set of needles lurk in my home (and office).
I have serious storage issues. I either have to seriously par down or find some way to keep everything reasonably organized.
First and foremost, I need to tackle the yarn monster.
- gather up all the yarn
- decide what I want to keep and what needs to go
- don’t be afraid to get rid of something I know I won’t knit with
- sort by project and weight
- further sort by color

I love laying out my yarn stash, taking inventory, and reorganizing-will I store yarn by color? fiber content? The world is my knitting oyster (ignore the weird imagery). I am also quite thrilled with my knitting tools case from www.organizedknitter.com Locally made with hip knitters in mind-I never leave home without it.

I have a list of all needles, in order to enter them into my happy, shiny Excel chart (courtesy of the knitlist). Said needles are all enconsed in a small Rubbermaid. I have a three-ring notebook for ideas, stitch charts and catalogs, and another (larger) three-ring for knitting magazines (thanks to these doohickeys).
I’d say I’m getting there!
