Improve my photography skills

I shall be taking a BTEC National Diploma in Photography when I go back to college in September. Hopefully this should help to improve my photography skills.

I don’t know if this picture is any good, but I like it. I took it in Philadelphia.

that I can’t afford a really good camera right now, and even if I could, I don’t even know how to work one. So, I’ve settled with my HP Photosmart M425 and have began learning to edit and use different simple functions on my camera. I’m also working on getting creative angles and subjects that are a little out of the ordinary. Anyway…I thought I’d post something to compare to later, so here’s some pictures from my trip to St. Louis, 7/21/08-7/22/08.

Feel free to leave comments and suggestions, just keep in mind that I don’t have a fancy camera!

By the way, can anyone give me a simple explanation of what ISO is? I have 3 settings on my camera, and can’t seem to tell a difference when I change the number. I have 100, 200, and 400. It says that 100 is best, and you have to keep the camera really still when using it, but the results seem the same as the others.

get better at taking pictures

I’m a professional equine photographer. I’d like to improve my fine art skills, work on portraits (human and equine), and get some of my photo-journalistic shots published.

Ive been taking alot of pictures of the flood in our area.

There is always going to be room for improvement no matter what.

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Ramiro bought himself a brand new “bridge camera” (i.e., something not as kickass as a reflex but better than a compact), and even though it lacked some cool trinkets that my dad’s camera has, I did managed to take some quite cool pictures by playing with composition, the depth of field, proportions and stuff like that.

I always had the skill and I think I picked it from my photography class in high school, and my dad’s photography magazines. I just had to find it. Thing complete!

I’m still stuck in the same place. I hate my photography course (For anyone in the maritime provinces—DO NOT TAKE A COURSE FROM MCKENZIE COLLEGE!!!!) but I’m definitely improving! So… I dunno. I have definitely improved… how do I call this done?
