How to buy an electric guitar
How I did it: I went to a music store that had used guitars. I wasn't looking for anything over $350 because I was only a beginner. I was looking for something that was made for metal. I tried out some of the guitars and I didn't really like any of them. So I went to George's and I was going to get a black Ibanez, but I really wasn't sure. I really wanted a blue epiphone Les Paul just because it was so beautiful, but it was $200 dollars out of my price range. I tried it anyway, immeadiately loved it and brought it home. I've now had him for about five months and I named him Joshua.
Lessons & tips: Don't buy a guitar you are not sure about. When you are not experienced, don't buy a guitar you wanted before you play it. Play it first, play a few different guitars and then choose. Don't rush into anything though. Don't feel pressured.

MonologueTheatre oh but! baby baby baby.
I bought an electric guitar to-day. It’s black ‘n’ white and I love it thus far. However! I can’t play a single thing. I hope to get someone to teach me…soon! * I’ll just spend most of my time on practicing until then. ♥
I bought my first electric guitar 4-5 days before my sixteenth birthday. It was a black Fender Stratocaster with a rosewood fingerboard. It was Mexican made.
Before that, i had a Fender acoustic guitar and i’ve been playing on it for 2 years… Picking up an electric guitar made me want to practice more, i found it more enjoyable and attractive.
The biggest advantage for a beginner is a thin neck which is much, MUCH, more playable than the classic or the acoustic guitar.
Second of all, it is the feeling the electric guitar gives, or, as i call it, the Mojo :)
So, here i am now, 5 years later, got a new Fender Strat, play in a RHCP tribute band, things are going great for me…
My advice to everyone:
1)Get a guitar
2)Practice!!!

I’ve been playing classical guitar for close to a year now, and I love it… I really want an electric guitar because I could play sooooooo many more things (being the metal listener that I am)!

I’ve tried them out now. It just isn’t the same as acoustic. It’s not about how much noise I can make I guess.

Every time I mention returning the acoustic guitar and getting an electric one, my mom says something like “I don’t wanna talk about it right now.” Well when? If I even bring up how I want to go to the music store to just look at some that might be good, she ignores me. I really have my heart set on one now.

I’ve always wanted a guitar in general, because I love music. For Christmas, my parents got me an acoustic guitar, and I enjoy playing it….TRYING to play it, because I am a little uncoordinated with it. It’s hard for me to alternate between notes, and the guitar itself is rather big, and a wee bit uncomfortable for my lap, and few things are ;). Anyway, I’ve done some research, and the electric costs more money obviously, but I’m sure my parents won’t mind me returning that and getting the one I’d be more comfortable with. The electric guitar isn’t as big, and is generally easier to play, for beginners. I’ve always envisioned myself pulling off some sweet riffs on a red and yellow Gibson Flying V, consequently alluring the sensually intelligent dark-haired vixen into my….oh, dear I sense I’ve gone off track. The look of an electric one draws the majority of my attention in a music store, when I’m not staring at the drumsets. I’d be really motivated to play it, because of the louder sound. I listen to alot of classic/hard rock. I’d also like to try playing a bass guitar one day. I love playing my keyboard. This entry is so long I’m thinking of turning it into a book. If you’ve made it this far into my 5:48am ramblings, I’m quite proud of you. Pat yourself on the back. I think I need some sleep…peace XD.
i just got an amazing deluxe mexican strat on sale for $220 less than the original price last weekend. it really is a great guitar.
