I'm giving this up... — 1 year ago
...in favor of finding my faith again. I just need some time, and want to be honest with myself. When I’m ready for this again, I’ll put it back on my list.
...in favor of finding my faith again. I just need some time, and want to be honest with myself. When I’m ready for this again, I’ll put it back on my list.
...with this for more than one reason. It’s not the reading, it’s the whole Christian thing right now.
...I’ve got a devil on the left, angel on the right, ‘Cause I’m already living in the middle of the fight. And round, and round, and round, she goes! Part of me’s in Heaven, part of me’s in Hell, part of me is struggling trying to find my way through life with a devil on the left and an angel on the right…
...because I keep saying “I’ll do it tomorrow.” Enough. I’ve been slipping, not only in my half-hearted attempt to do this but in my entire relationship with Christ. I’ve been afraid to tell my friends because I wanted to fix this myself, and obviously that isn’t working. So I’m coming to the people who want to do this, the people who have done this, my subscribers, and my friends who have accounts to call me out on this one.
Today I am printing out a “Read the Bible in a Year” guide from the internet. I am going to start reading TONIGHT and read Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, AT LEAST, NO MATTER WHAT. Every week I’m going to post until I’ve accomplished this goal. Please, friends, call me out on this. This is something that is important to me.

...I’m falling waaaay behind on this one. I’ve been crazy busy with things like soccer and band, and I’m so wiped at night that it’s all I can do to get my homework done and eat. Now, I accept that those aren’t appropriate excuses, and I’m trying to get back on track with this. I shouldn’t be putting important things on back burners!! I feel really lousy about not doing this….
All-in-all, I guess I’d just like to ask for prayers to help me get this back on track and stop finding excuses for myself.
=)
Worth doing!
There are plenty of reading guides online that will help you divvy up what you read each day (or week).
Worth doing!
it’s worth it. Not only do you learn so much about the faith, but also it teaches you discipline and responsibility.
Worth doing!
I have read the whole Bible a couple of times. When I finish, I start over with a different translation. It is very interesting to compare the King James with the New Internationl, for instance.
Worth doing!
This has been the most worth doing thing I have ever done! Not only can I now say that I’ve read the whole Bible, I can also see just how much it has changed my life. It is truly amazing to read as there is such unity in belief and voice throughout it. I loved it so much, I’m doing it again!
Worth doing!
I’ve done this once a year for 7 years or so . . . it is definitely worth it. Of course I have my favorite parts, but it is great to dig into the entire Bible.
