SallyKitt "Action is the antidote to despair" - Joan Baez
The DH wanted to buy a carpet cleaner months ago. So we did. I was completely willing to hire it done, but he wanted the Bissell, so we got the Bissell. It sat there all this time in his room, somewhat forlorn.
I’m going to be laid off one day a week for who knows how long. So I used my day off Friday to learn how to use said Bissell. I couldn’t have been more happily surprised. (Well, actually, it could have done a better job on the full glass of red wine I dumped the night before, but it’s very very pale now.)
We have light cream colored carpeting and haven’t shampooed them in the 6 years we’ve lived here. Eek. They really needed it.
One of the helpful motivators here was that my brilliant sister advised that I don’t have to move everything out of every room. As she pointed out, “I’m never going to get the rest of the carpet as clean as it already is under the couch.” Hey, right!
So I did our long living room and part of the hall. Hydra got all excited about the results and made me a deal yesterday. He’d shampoo while I write. Huh? Okay! So we both moved things out of the dining area and hall and that’s done. (Isn’t he lovely?)
He’s finishing up the bedroom and library right now. While I’m writing. Well, I was writing…working on the novel. And technically, this is writing too. I got up to brew a cup of tea and when I came back I sort of slipped into 43things.
My only concern about the newly clean carpets is whether or not we’ll be able to navigate around the house without all the paths!
