tile the floor

I have to put the trim back down and caulk the seams and touch up the paint and this project will be done. 3 years ago

The tile is set. The grout is in. All that is left is to seal the stone and grout. 4 years ago

The part that I didn’t think would be so much work is getting everything ready. I have spent a large amount of time and effort just getting the floor ready to set the tile. The floor that I am going to set the tile on was originally way to flexible. So my father and I crawled under it and reinforced the trusses and put a post under the middle of it. The beams are now much more rigid but the decking was too flexible. We then had to glue and screw another layer of decking under the original. I know that traditionally one should use a layer of cement board over the floor but I did not have the space to spare. I am using slate tiles that are fairly thick and the cement board would put it dangerously close to the bottom of the four doors that open on to this floor. I didn’t want the tile floor to be a bunch higher than the carpet that I comes in contact with as well. 5 years ago

All the tiles are down. There’s some finishing work to do. It’s a pity we’re selling the house. 6 years ago

Depuis plus de 8 ans, il y avait des tuiles manquantes dans le garde manger, sous le bain, dans une garde robe et sous le comptoir, quelque chose que quelqu’un avait commencé mais pas terminé… Voilà c’est fait ! mission accomplit ! C’est tellement plus beau. 6 years ago

“The man” laid out the tiles on the cleared part today, and cut the tiles that needed cutting. Now for adhesive. 6 years ago

The part ready to be tiled is now being prepared. The old painted concrete need roghneing to allow the adheasive to stick. The “man of the house” is making shallow holes with a masonry drill. It’s noisy!! 6 years ago

One end of the area to be tiled is now completely empty. Today it can be prepared and tiles laid there. When that is complete the furniture can be moved from the other end and that tiled. 6 years ago

Yesterday I moved my computer table to another room. Better place for the computer, and one less thing in the area to be tiled. 6 years ago

We have all the stuff to stick the tiles down. Just have to move furniture and motivate my man to do it. 6 years ago

Actually we’ve had them for a while, and have taken up the carpet on the floor (it is concrete, and was painted before it was carpeted). Now need to buy adhesive and grout for the tilese and get my man to lay them. 7 years ago
