Finished two out of three. 17 months ago

Well, I finished my business taxes and dropped them off at the CPA’s. Once she finishes with them and we get them mailed off, I’ll be ready to start on our personal taxes.

Got one out of three done on time. 19 months ago

Would have gotten a second done(maybe)if I hadn’t had to spend the day at the Ga Dept of Revenue showing them the certified mail receipt that the previous return was mailed on time. Glad I did this, though, since they had already filed a lien and a $1200 penalty because they received it 7 days late. You’d think they could check the certified mail when they receive it. Will work on second return today.

    And mailing them out today.
My refund is only $62, so there’s no point in e-filing.

So I thought... 21 months ago

... I was being all good, I sat down to do my taxes when I got up today, all proud of myself. I’ve always gotten a (small) return, and last year, I made a fifth less than what I made the previous nine years. (It’s an even trade, trust me – a shitty, higher paying job for two sweet little ones.)

So, like I was saying, I sat down to do my taxes, they’ve always been so easy, and the calculator came up with $800 – that I owe!

I started freaking out, how can this be?!!! But I have the plague, and a fever, so I was thinking maybe I made a mistake, so I had a friend look at it and they couldn’t find an error, so I took it to the accountant at one of my jobs. It’s not wrong.

It appears that at one of my jobs, they’ve been taking out less than I asked for, and I had no idea. So, basically, I’m screwed. I cannot believe this. And there’s nothing to be done. Either way, I owe money.

I’m having another friend look at it this weekend, but she said it sounded pretty dire. I want to get under the covers and not come out.

Tired of filing for an extension every year 21 months ago

I even have a CPA for 2 out of 3 of the tax returns I have to file. There’s no excuse for this dilly-dallying.

    Progress! 21 months ago

She’s away for the week on vacation
(on holiday to my overseas friends)
    according to her staff
yet she somehow managed to take the time
to call me back this afternoon.
They don’t even lie well. She should hire me.
Gave her my new, correct, and current address.
My W-2 is now its way.

    I Called. 21 months ago

She’s out of the office for the week.
    During tax season??
And apparently hires staff incapable of writing a name, address, and phone number.
    Call back on Monday.
