I used to spend a lot of time on my canvas a young girl but with higher studies and with the focus to build my career i have lost touch completely…But feel like getting back to it and take up some formal lessons about it…I Hope i can find a good trainer. I imagine myself sitting in a corner of a busy plaza and sketching people faces :-)

My Job required it always and i wanted to do it too. but somehow it never happened though i m in same job for past 3 yrs. Now got a little taste of it and really wanted to do it. I want to sketch from car to objects….....to human features and finally a human drawing. yes drawing after attempting on sketch. this will atleast give some exercise to my creative elements.
So i m excited to start. I can not commit a sketch a day but yes 3 sketches a week definitely. I will post the sketch on some public medium so that i can get feedbacks ( positive and negative both) to keep my tempo high.
Wish me Luck
Thanks

I’ve always been able to make marks on paper resemble something or other (when I was 12: usually Iron Man!), but I’ve never had any formal tuition.
One page into Barrington Barber’s “The Fundamentals of Drawing” and I’ve already learned something: concentrate on the tip of the pencil. My freehand lines are straighter already.
208 pages in all: if I learn something as useful on every page, I may yet have to change my name to Leonardo!
ProphetPX is at home, full from dinner, finally from GOOD food this time! ;-)
I can do this, and have done it, for certain special people, and I even did a self-portrait of myself in 1997, which took me 30 minutes using only copy paper, ink pen, and a mirror :-)

I’m still enjoying sketching as a small hobbie. I really like trying to sketch portraits as it forces me to really look at the person’s face and all of the characteristics of it and not just glace at the person and look away or assume I know what someone looks like without really paying attention. I’ve just seen the film “cashback” and it has some great portrait sketches in it that has got me inspired but I doubt I’ll ever be anywhere near as good as that – but hey, practice makes perfect.
I spend most of my time sketching either cartoon characters (really easy to do) or just wildlife.. birds and such… I always freak out when it comes to people.. faces, figures, etc… Would taking art classes help?
ive started drawing i just picked up a pencil and sketched something i mostly sketch peoples faces and normaly hands ive drawn a hand hanging from a fence but i think i need some lessons.

i’ve made improvements!
i applied my knowledge of drawing things like hair and clothes and even sketched a small picture of a friend. it was great, really. i’m really getting better at it and starting to feel more comfortable with new techniques.

Recently I’ve just been using an old scrapbook and lead pencil to sketch. Yesterday I bought some graphite pencils, a real sketch pad and even some watercolour paints and brushes. I really wanna go back to how much I used to love art.

I’m kind of teaching myself how to sketch. It’s more of an intuitive thing, since I do find myself a very intuitive person – especially when it comes to things like art. I guess I’ve picked up the pieces from before and taught myself the rules.
Most importantly though.. I drew what I saw, instead of drawing what I wanted to see
