How I did it: I filled out the forms to have my four funds (I've been around!) rolled into my original fund. At the time, my current one insisted that I had no choice... I showed them who was boss as soon as I was employed as permanent staff instead of agency staff!
First State Super were totally happy to take MY money and allow me to administer my account, insurance and beneficiary details by confirming my identity using my personal details and 'password' but REFUSED to roll-over my funds until I sent them 100-points of certified documents as proof-of-identification. I wasn't about to play ping-pong with them, so I sent the certified documents with a fresh roll-over request to my favoured fund to do the chasing. And they got my roll-overs.
The weirdest thing, when two of the super 'funds' sent their final documents explaining why they took all these fees out of your nest-egg before relinquishing it, they stapled the documents at the top of the page, but in the center. Of all obnoxious things to do, this is the behaviour you can expect if you ditch a super 'fund'... some petty little person gets their kicks out of stapling your documents in the stupidest way possible as their way of saying thank you for stashing your funds with us, now shove off. I set out to do this over a year ago but I never did get to do anything. I’ve already received letters from some of my super places telling me they’ve put my money into “unclaimed super”. All I need to do is ensure I sort out this current super account I have since it has the most money.
I suck at this :( 6 years ago
Well I’ve done my bit anyways. Compiled all the info required and sent it by email. Will pester them if I don’t get a response shortly. So I’m going to call this goal done! :) hooray for 43Things, otherwise I could have taken a few more months to get around to it… 6 years ago
I have two funds that need to be merged. The fund that I am trying to exit from was set up by a previous employer. I tried to sort this out once before, last year. I received a letter from the fund(after my repeated calls to them over 3 months!) saying they required some more documentation. So I will collect the documents they require so I can get my funds outta there! Once I have tied up this loose end I will feel most happy. I had a horrid experience overall at that former workplace. When I have sorted out my super I will be able to move on and forget that old employer ever existed… :) 6 years ago
This is something that I need to do now for the benefit of my financial future. I have 7 different funds and need to roll them all into my current superannuation fund.
I’m happy to say that I have already got the forms and filled them all out. All I need to do is get all the other documentation to prove who I am and then get it all signed by a JP and sent away. Sounds easy. Just need a kick up the backside to get me moving. 6 years ago
I DEFINITELY need to sort this out before I move to the US. So that when I come back to retire here in Australia in some 40 years, I can come home with HEAPS of Super Money! WooHoo! 7 years ago
Now that I’m back to becoming a public servant for the SA Government, I can go back to putting my super into Super SA. Yay! I’m very happy about this because they have great benefits with Super SA (& it’s only for SA Govt employees).
I guess the only headache is still trying to organise all the other ones to go to Super SA. Really must get that done sometime in the next 2 days. I just wonder how I go about doing so… 7 years ago
I actually sorted out PART of my Super this week. I handed the form to my boss. Now all I have to do is Rollover the other 45257893672 Superannuation forms so that all of them can be consolidated into ONE!
I may sort this out tomorrow…if I don’t get distracted by the Internet that is. 7 years ago
I dropped by the Statewide Superannuation office in the City this morning & the lovely Angela (who also had the same birthday as me!) gave me all the necessary forms I need to get all this sorted out. How’s that for service?
Now it’s up to me to organise the rest…send it off & viola! Super is done! 7 years ago
I’m such a lazy ass that I think I’m just going to go with Statewide Superannuation. 7 years ago
My plan was to transfer all of my different Superannuation Memberships to my Super SA fund. Well, went to the Super SA office on Friday & found out that because they’re a “special” SA Government Superannuation Fund, I am unable to bring in my other funds into them (since I’m no longer with the Govt.) :( So denied.
Now I have to go choose another of my other funds & transfer not only my Super SA fund, but also the others too. Oh, how much fun that would be. 7 years ago
I’m going to round up the forms today. I think I have around 4 to lodge & gather up. And since I’m lazy, I’m going to pick Super SA as my main one as I have the most money there & out of all the ones I’ve got, they’re the best at maintaining my money. They get my tick of approval.
I would love to sort this one within the next month. 7 years ago
My four super accounts are now one! Now to hope I can afford to retire one day;-). 7 years ago
and nothing has been done. I am beginning to suspect the forms probably didn’t make it because the mail room at work SUCK. 7 years ago
Forms to rollover are in the mail. Have emailed my current super people to make sure everything is set up ok on that end. 7 years ago
I’m trying to get them to send me out info but I think that their email form on their website is broken:-/. It’s either them or Australian Ethical so I wish they’d hurry up so I can get that sorted and then work on getting them all combined into the one account. 8 years ago
I think I will open an account with Australian Ethical and then fill out the required forms to get all of my super transferred there. That’s assuming the small amounts I have dotted around the place haven’t been completely eaten away by fees;-). 8 years ago
