Wish I had more time and money to dive!

I recently completed my open water and advanced open water PADI courses in Puerto Gallera, Philippines.

If you’re a traveling type o’person, you probably couldn’t find a better place to dive than Puerto Gallera. Of course, I don’t have much to compare to (underwater-wise), but my dive instructor said PG has some of the best underwater stuff in the world.

What’s more, my two courses cost me something like $750 (for both), and I stayed in a hotel right on the beach – palm trees, everybody is there to dive, no cars. Really, I can’t say enough about Puerto Gallera.

I love scuba diving. It opens you up to an incredible new world. The best diving I ever did was in the Galapogos Islands and Belize. I have done most of my diving in the Caribbean and Florida. For Wreck Diving, Florida Keys is the best. The best cave diving is the Cenotes in Mexico along the Mayan Coast.

All the sea creatures, like sharks, rays, fish, seahorses, sea lions, and penguins are exciting to see in their natural habitat. Also, wreck dives are really cool and act as an artificial reef for many animals. Cave diving is exciting, but can be disconcerning at first. I tend to like warm water diving better than cold water. (I am a southerner.)

There are still many places that I want to go diving. The Great Barrier Reef, Phuket, and Palau are on the top of my list of other places I want to dive.

Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow i’ll be taking my exams for it. I’ve already did my 5 checkout dives (and an extra one). I’m already planing what specialties take for my Advanced Open Water card.

As it turns out, I am very afraid of drowning and I don’t like relying on equipment for my survival. Very expensive. I will stick to snorkeling.

depends where my parents go on hoiday in october but I’m goign to tag along and do it in warm waters – just need to find out where they are going!!

... well not completely alone – that’s dangerous but without someone else controlling my equipment, must do it soon!
