no hunting 16 months ago

Hey, I’m sure I may join some hunting trip one day in my life the way things are looking at the moment…
However, after having another look through my goals I really don’t see it necessary, nor do I have any great enthusiasm about hunting and/or handling rifles.

Let’s just take it of the list, but keep scopin!

pussy and beer and guns 22 months ago

i’m going hunting in like 12 hours it’s gonna be kick arse. we go quite often. we go usually for hares (and anything else we see, though we don’t expect it, such as pigs/boars, deer, goat, ducks, foxes, rabbits). i prefer to shoot with a .22 magnum with hollowpoints or my dads over/under 12 gauge pidgeon grade field shotgun. i like pussy, and beer.

I love venison and wild duck, so I’ve gotta shoot it myself.

got a chance to go hunting this weekend. Was really awesome. I went pigeon hunting with 2 friends. I really underestimated the strength of a shot gun and my arm got badly bruised. Besides that it was great being on the sunflower farm we went to. I have great pics of the day, will download them when i get time.

Start small 2 years ago

Ease into it. I suggest if you are just starting out to try hunting small game first. There are more chances of seeing a squirrel or rabbit than a deer. Also, you don’t have to be in the woods at dawn. You typically use a less expensive gun, 22 or a shotgun. They are easier to clean and carry out of the woods. And yes, you can eat squirrel. Cook like a chicken thigh. They are good. They if you like it, try deer or turkey or other more difficult and complicated game. For me it’s all about trying to get in tune with nature. Listening to the woods. Relaxing so you notice what is going on around you. Can be good therapy.

If I had more Freezer space... 2 years ago

I’m going to put in for an antelope tag again this year, deer is a possibility and I have yet to ever put in for an elk tag.

In 2003 my parents went to Alaska for their 25th anniversary and my mom shot a moose and my dad shot a caribu Last July the took a trip to the Northwest Territories and My dad shot a Dall Sheep, and now they are planning a trip for this October to go to British Columbia for a Mountain Goat, my mom did shot one when she first came to Montana, but it fell off a cliff and they were never able to find it. Last year we had a friend got one of the special Bison tags, and again this year we had another friend get one of the special bison tags. this is a picture from last year

I couldn't kill Bambi! 2 years ago

While I don’t think I have it in me to kill a mammal (ie:deer, bunnies, etc.), I think I could handle hunting for pheasant, wild turkey, or even duck. It’s the girly sensitivity in me not to mention that I believe in eating what you kill, and I can’t stand venison. Pheasant on the other hand, if cooked right, is awesome. First step is to take a hunter’s safety course (required in IA). Classes are coming up soon!
