Breathing is important 8 months ago

As a cancer survivor, it’s important to not have to walk through a cloud of smoke, every time we go somewhere.

Cold steel facts 11 months ago

“YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN ARE THE TARGET.”

“Worldwide more than one billion people smoke”.
It would take you 95 years to count form “one, to one billion”

World wide one in four adults smoke.
Smoking shorten’s a male smokers’ life by 13.2 years, and female smokers’ life by 14.5 years.

Every eight seconds, someone around the world dies, due to their own tobacco use.
About 49,400 non-smoking adults die each year of lung cancer or heart disease as a result of breathing secondhand smoke.

In America, more than 400,000 people die of lung disease due to smoking every year.
Tobacco induced deaths worldwide, are expected to increase from about 5 million per year today, to about 10 million per year by the 2030s.

Annual tabacco industry contributions to federal candidates, political parties, and PACS: “Over $3 million”. Tobacco industry annual expenditures for lobbying congress: “Over $20 million”.
Governments around the world collect more than ”$200 billion” in tobacco taxes each year, on top of the contributions, but spend less than “one-fifth of 1 percent” of that revenue on tobacco control.

    The Good News:

    • 20 Minutes After Quitting:

Your heart rate and blood pressure drop.

    • 12 Hours After Quitting:

The carbon monoxide level in your body drops to normal.

    • 2 Weeks To 3 Months After Quitting:

Your circulation improves, and your lung function increases.

    • 1 To 9 Months After Quitting:

Coughing and shortness of breath decrease. Cilia (Tiny hair like structures) regain normal function in the lungs, increasing ability to handle mucus, clean lungs, and reduce risk of infection.

    • 1 Year After Quitting:

The excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker.

    • 5 To 15 Years After Quitting:

Your stroke risk is reduced to that of a nonsmoker.

    • 10 Years After Quitting:

The cancer rate falls to 1/2 of what a smoking persons cancer risk is. .(How sickening!) The cancer rate of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, cervix, and pancreas falls to 1/2 of that of a smoking persons as well.

    • 15 Years After Quitting:

The risk of coronary heart diseas is that of a nonsmoker.

    The Facts…

If you smoke, you will most likely die of cancer.

    Smoking kill’s “YOU”.

Secondhand smoke kill’s “YOUR SPOUSE, YOUR CHILDREN, and YOUR PET’S”!!

    Outside activity's 15 months ago

I wish I hadn’t, but until last year I too was a smoker. I would try to step away from the group, but I now realize moving 10 feet away is not nearly enough. It doesn’t help the nonsmoking group much unless the wind is blowing the other way. Now I’m one of the poor slobs standing in the group, suddenly getting a lung full of smoke, seemingly from no where. Smokers need to realise, “just because you are with a group of people outside does not mean you can smoke. Please don’t stand in the middle of everyone and smoke. We signed up, and paid to be there, to do what we are there to do. It is not for me to have to walk away, and miss what I am there to do. If you need to smoke, “you need to leave the group”, and go a good 25 feet away.

What you may not realize, is some of the people in the group may not be well. Just because they are there that day, doesn’t mean they are in top health. Even gravely ill people still go to stores, BBQ’s, and events, & smoke is an assault on their (all of our) system.

Please keep cigarette smoke far away from me—there’s enough bad things in the air I have to breathe!

We all are affected 21 months ago

Carcinogens, poisoneous gases, emphasyma, chronic bronchitis, asthma, stinky clothing, headaches, stunted growth and health problems in children, STINKY, and not to mention, 50% of the litter in this world is from ignorant butt flickers! Well, the medical problems are well documented and I avoid smoke as much as possible so that I’m not affected. However, cigarette butts are literally trashing our nation. What a terrible sight to see! I’m mostly affected by smoking when I sit down to a nice lunch and a smoker sits next to me. Now, they aren’t smoking at that time but their clothes wreak so badly that all of the sudden my food tastes like an ash tray. I work with a lot of smokers. I love them and don’t judge them for their addiction. The harder they work at not affecting me the happier I am to be around them.
