be the best mom possible to all of my fur babies!

finally met zeus! and they love him. i got some attitude and lots of interrogations when they first found out about him, which i expect from them (you got another dog? why??? what about the neighbors, etc….). i don’t know why everyone wants to give me such a hard time about having so many pets. i clean up after them and take care of them and pay for them myself. so…?

i just came across this pic and it made me laugh. it was the pic that petfinder had up of our beloved chucklebutt before we adopted him. makes him look like a straight-up gangsta. (well, minus the smile and tongue sticking out :)

a pic of our zeus! he’s adjusting well since we busted him out of doggie jail. :) he’s already put on some weight and looks much healthier even since this pic was taken!! (he was emaciated and covered in ticks but still a lovebug!)

(our new rottie) is doing great! he’s pretty much now housetrained (phew!) and is learning the basics like sit and stay. and the other dogs are finally starting to adjust to his puppy mentality and playfulness and are starting to play with him and chase him around. warms the heart :) awwww…..

we adopted a rottie ‘pup’ (~18 mos) from the shelter last week. he was found chained outside and covered in ticks. his brother was adopted but poor tock sat at the shelter waiting for his chance at a real life. we met him and found that he was such a sweet boy that we couldn’t say no! the vet gave us some medicated shampoo and conditioner to use on him, plus updated him on all of his shots and he is one happy boy! i will post a pic when i can :)

charlie’s tie-out broke yesterday and he ended up on a lady’s doorstep a block or two away! apparently they had a female JRT (awww). i need to go out and buy a new tie-down. i’d never forgive myself if he got hit by a car or something!

i think that chloe is going to have babies any day now! she keeps rearranging the cage/nesting box and is restless! i hope i get to witness it! (btw, i didn’t have funds for the vet to get them fixed, but i suppose at this point it would have been a wasted trip anyhow! lol). from what we have read and seen we are 99% sure she’s got BUNS (haha) in the oven!

tomorrow for the bunnies!!! let’s hope that it’s not too expensive!

b wants a young rottie, too. i am only hesitant because in our town you’re not supposed to have more than 2 dogs. if i could get away with it i probably will have a third dog soon but we shall see. i’m pretty broke.

i bought a second cage and all of the ‘trimmings’ and also a wire playpen-type thing so they could run around without needing total supervision. so, i let them run around for an hour or two and decided to pick chloe up when bugsy wasn’t looking, and to take her downstairs to the original cage. then i let bugsy hop into the carrier and took him downstairs. the big test…. and we passed :) i managed to hold him for a good 20 minutes to make sure that it wasn’t something with me per se, but just defending chloe. so i plan on keeping them separated, at least until i can get them fixed. i have an appt for next weekend for a new vet, though i doubt they will do the surgery right then and there…

my bugsy bit me twice last night and drew blood! i know i shouldn’t take it personally but it made me very sad, esp since i have been the one really taking care of them, making sure they have food and water and changing their cage all of the time. i think it was just because they are probably approaching maturity and they probably have chosen each other as mates, and i tried taking chloe out to hold her. bugsy grunted a few times and then lunged and bit me quickly. i didn’t want to let him win so i tried again a few times and i have 6 bites on my hand and two drew blood! it hurt too much to try again, plus i was upset by then anyway. so b yelled at bugsy and went over and took chloe out and brought her to me but i was just shocked by the whole thing. i guess we’ll have to see what happens tonight. i want to show him he’s not the boss of me!
