firefly1818The way to work on goals...

Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!”

New IsabellaAfter further evaluation & frustration...

...and a long time passing, I’ve decided to mark this goal as “DONE”.

I’m going to try a new goal, 20 questions you should ask yourself every Sunday, instead as a weekly review. 11 months ago

MMiller06014 March 2012

Well, I did take at least a short look at my goals and I realized that my two special needs goals really need to be reprioritized so I moved them to the top of the list.

Later today or tonight I am going to take another look at the rest – I think some needs updates and some need reconsideration. Life is full of change and I think perhaps I need to shift some and remove some. 14 months ago

firefly1818Yr 2 - jump start - week 1-2-3

I keep thinking about this “do first things first” approach, i.e. cover your basics and prioritize.

I can’t spread myself thin right now (or ever), so let me work on the goals which stay on my way – i.e. Health, Green card and Organize my life. Everything else is dependent upon these 3.

A. Heath (physical and mental)
1. Loose 10 lbs by 2/28/11.

*Focus on portions size. start day with a glass of warm water and lemon. *Have oatmeal with flaxseed at work. *Bring soup to work. have lingenberry tea for a week. *Rice Congee for the Chinese New year week – fabulous comfort food.

2. Go to bed by 10:30 pm.

3. Go for a 30 min walk.

4. Go to the church.

5. Reiki – at least once a week.

6. Pilates – 2 times/ week.

B. Green card
Talked to Yura – No.
C. Organize my life
1/29/11—House cleaning/decluttering – 5 hrs of hard work, not much is seen anyway. Found dislocated seasonal clothes/separated between throw away – drycleaning – washing piles; washed. I should not do it late at night – I’m getting so tired, I can’t fall asleep until 3:30 am afterwards…
2/12/11 – anothert 2.5 hrs cleaning.
2/13/11 – about 4 hrs + 4.5 hrs cleaning and moving around furniture. Between 2 days, spring cleaned all kitchen related stuff, discarded all old stuff out of the fridge, cleaned it and ordganized the stuff in the pantry; cleaned bathroom, 9 grocery bags of garbage are out, 3 large cartons sorted out and discarded, clocks – get batteries and hang on the wall; moved furniture around so that I can use the desk and the dresser; sorted out a box for Goodwill, a box to be sent home. Still looks messy and disorganized but definitely there is a change. And it’s not yet the end of the day.

2/20-21-22
I probably spent just 4 hrs cleaning but out of them 2 hrs were dedicted for not-so-favorite papers. Plus prepared a parcel to send home and included there some stuff, which I bought probably 10 years ago, so it should be good. Included a project (scarf) from 2007, and some clothes for Jacka. I feel stressed out because I have embarked on 2 new projects (trip to Europe and crocheted scarf despite being overwhelmed with incompleted current projects.) I need to keep going. 2 years ago

MMiller060131 December 2011

Well, I have reviewed my goals this week – the last time for 2011. I’ve given up on some, I’ve cleaned some off completely, and I’ve considered the goals that are left. I think that I’ve made room for goals for next year, goals that need to be added. Now, I hope to add those goals this weekend and then re-prioritize. 16 months ago

I’ll keep updating this post, so as not to clog subscriber’s in-boxes.

I keep thinking about this “do first things first” approach, i.e. cover your basics and prioritize.

*pick my car
*find a cheap parcel service

d. de-cluttering
6 clothes in goodwill
e. Cleaning and organizing
identified all clothes that I’ll wear during this season
cleaned for 2 hours
2 bags are out

Buy computer, scanner, iPad,ear – whatever this thing is called, and amplifiers for music.
12/20 – 20 items in dry cleaning; found winter fleece, thus I’m on target for not buying anything for current use. On my way to the goodwill to donate the stuff, which bugged me for 2 years – done (6 clothes);
12/21 – applied a structured procrastination approach and focused on systematizing books and the random stuff in book closets. 3 hrs of work, not much result. sent a very pretty Christmas card to MJ. threw away recycles. on a separate reflective note – apparently I can only work on smaller goals, when I’m less stressed (case with shoes and changing batteries. How to make it a system? Finally planted amarylis – but it started blooming without water and soil anyway!!!
12/28 I’ve been clocking about couple of hours/day last week, focusing mostly on accessing what I have and cleaning, plus tons of laundry and dry cleaning. I need to get rid of a lot of empty cartons before New year and then the result will be notable.
12/29 – 2 hrs—tidying the stuff. Threw away several paper bags.
1/6 – picked up clothes from dry cleaning
1/8 – washed crystal and pretty stuff, which I’ve never used.
1/10 First cleaning of New Year. Finally! 3 hrs of tyding up stuff in the kitchen area plus random stuff, which was on the floor between couch and end table.
1/11 – got up @ 8:30 and spent 3 hrs sorting out and cleaning. I achieved something in the past 2 days. It started looking notably cleaner, although nowhere close to the end.
On a separate note, I finally watched “Hoarders.”Unfortunately, some traits like goat ways look familiar. But I don’t see the purpose of the show – organizers are completely unprepared for this job.
1/12 – on my way to donate 6 books to a library. NOT done. But I went to see a great programm about Jani.s Jop.lin, which I always wanted, so it was a good day. I believe I did some cleaning.
1/13 – 4 hrs of cleaning, sorting out, preparing for donating and sending packages to relatives. It is SO slow. I virtually see no progress, but still 1 carton and 3 plastic bags of garbage are gone.
1/14 – 3.5 hrs of sorting out and throwing away the presorted stuff. in the next several days, I’ll need to complete donating/sending/returning duties.
1/15 – 2 hrs of sorting out and throwing away the stuff. IVF Medical supplies are mostly gone.
1/16 – 3+ hrs of sorting out and throwing away the stuff. Refrigerator and 2 purses/bags are entirely sorted out. Boy oh Boy, how I want to see a progress but still there is not much seen. I’m still able to avoid any grocery shopping. Also, today wrote an e-mail regarding cancellation of the Calif. Cr account. Yaay! There is a week left towards Chinese New Year on 1/23.

1/30/12 – did not do anything starting from 1/22/12. worked 2 hrs today on throwing out sorted out papers and shredding docs. No matter how enthusiastic I was 2 hrs ago, right now I’m exhausted and ready to kill everyone. And I did not work on anything hard today (old bills from the counter in Stam.ford. Gosh, where is the end to all this shitty clutter. Need to get up tomorrow @ 6 am, and complete this box. 17 months ago

MMiller0601Goal Review - week of 11/7/11

Well, I’ve decided to mark “Observe a day in silence” as given up for now. I think I simply need to recognize the reality in front of me: I just cannot have an entire silent day. What I can do, however, is embrace silence in any amount that I can find it. I can deliberately find ways to work it into my day. So that is one goal crossed off, and one goal added.

The rest of my goals I continue to work on as I can. I’ve been doing much better recently with the November Bootcamp and fully intend to keep that up.

Several of my goals (like visiting a new place every month, learning Python, and learning Spanish well enough to use it) are right on the cusp of me “giving up” on them. Really if I do that, I am sure I will come back to them, but I hate having goals on here for long periods of time and not making ANY progress on them at all. 18 months ago

DaphneI will be reviewing my goals...

...every Friday! :) 21 months ago

MMiller0601Ok so I am definitely not reviewing my goals weekly

But they are definitely getting a thorough look-see now.

My life seems to be taking an abrupt right turn so I am going to really look at what I want, what I need, and how to go about achieving those things. And a thorough look at what is pure garbage in my life right now.

Its a long story, but I’ve recently had a figurative bucket of cold water dumped on me and I think I have to re-evaluate my life so this one is moving up the list. 22 months ago
