I started flying lessons back in 1983 but was unable to finish, so i think that I can make this a goal again.
How I did it: I lucked out. My brother-in-law was a pilot and a flight instructor, so he took me out to the lessons base. I didn't think he would have me take off--I figured I would just kind of steer a little, instead of actually fly the thing, but NO. He had other ideas--next thing you know we're on the ground, heading straight for trees, and he's screaming instructions at me to get in the air. While I was flying, I was so freaked out that I think I … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I took two one hour trial flying lessons at one of my local airfields in a Cessna 152. When I was in school, I did work experience at my other local airfield and went on a 15 minute testflight with a Piper Tomahawk. I plan to get a PPL in the future. Read how I did it…

I’ve just come to realise that flying an airplane really isn’t something that I’m keen to do. Perhaps later in the future I might like to fly one of those old fashioned Canadian float planes. Though I don’t think it should be one of my 43 things.
Instead I will come up with something more original.
would love to learn to fly a small plane….maybe even for a career…always loved it anyway…especially take off—fast!!!

Of course, to do it by yourself or without an instructor, you do. But on my very first lesson, I did nearly an hour of flying all by myself – the instructor was there to instruct and for safety, but I sat in the Left Seat and handled the controls and everything all by myself. One of THE MOST AWESOME THINGS I HAVE EVER DONE – and I’ve been blessed with a whole bunch of awesome experiences!

I’ll be finishing my private pilot’s license in a couple of weeks… so if anyone is heading to Iceland, I’d be willing to split the cost of renting an airplane (quite cheap) and help you fulfill this dream :)
