This book provides an interesting overview of the ethical system of the samurai, something akin to, but not identical to, European chivalry.
It explores the seven virtues: Rectitude, Courage, Benevolence, Respect, Honesty, Honour/Glory, and Loyalty; and offers an insight into its place in Japanese history.
There is much to think about here, and I think it is worth reading over, in order to get the most from it.
