I’ve always wanted to learn Estonian as my grandad is from there, and recently things have changed to mean that learning Estonian might have a real practical use! So I am going to try with my mum and my sister to learn. He says he still sings songs in Estonian in his head, so I think I might ask him to teach me some. It’s really exciting, actually. Although I’m not sure how I’m going to manage this, plus Japanese, plus my dissertation in one year. Slowly but surely I guess?

My grandma was born in Estonia and moved to Sweden when she was 8. so sometimes I help her try to remember some estonian with a dictionary. it helps me learn a bit too. Also, my friend’s mother learned some Estonian while in Russia and was very interested when I told her i was part estonian o.o
Estonian is very similar to Finnish and it reall sounds funny to me (I’m sure that Estonians think the same about Finnish). Anyway, I really want to learn the language.
