O.K., I really want to go see the King Tut exhibit – and it’s only a few hours away from me, so I should go, right?
But – my husband doesn’t want to go, and you have to buy tickets in advance. If I could just say, “hey, let’s go today”, he might go for it, but having to actually plan something he doesn’t want to do….
Anyway, I saw the Pompeii exhibit, and it was fascinating. I didn’t get to see King Tut when he came around the first time, so I’m definitely going to try to make it this time! I only have until May to get this done, but I will!!!!!

After going to Dallas last fall, I realized how easy and inexpensive it is for me & Savvy. (Working for the airline especially so) So when I found out the exhibit was coming and we even get a discount – woohoo – I decided we definitely needed to go. It ends in May right around her birthday so I think we’ll make a weekend out of it. We didn’t have time to do the JFK stuff last time so maybe it’ll be a whole ‘history thing’ weekend. ;) A better excuse for her to miss a day of school.
Ok, so King Tut is coming to the South. I never thought I would ever get the chance to view his belongings and the body itself. I thought I would have t travel to Cairo, Egypt but nope KIng Tut is on his way and he will be here for many months to come.
I hadn’t realized that Tut’s body a sarcophogus were kept in Ciaro, so that dissapointed me a little, but the exhibit was still fasinating. Many of the items surprised me that they had held up so well over the years, even with being sealed up as they were. There were much brighter colors and wood used than I had suspected. This was definately worth the trip.
So I drove 4 1/2 hours to Chicago with my boyfriend on Dec.26. SOLD OUT! It was crazy! But, hey, we’ve got tickets for Jan.1, the last day that it’s there, so I’m happy.
This is supposed to be an interesting exhibit and when it first toured 30 years ago, it had a huge following: http://www.chicagohotelandsuites.com/wmspage.cfm?parm1=118
I’d love to go to Chicago, stay at the Chicago Radisson Hotel and Suites and see King Tut before he leaves the country.
Jessica Steelers FTW!
Right before the 4th of July, that weekend, so June 30th to July 3rd or so, my family and I went up to Chicago. One of the first things we did was go the King Tut exhibit.
Def. worth it. About a year ago, I went to an Egyptian exhibit at the Dayton Art Institute.
And then we went to the Princess Diana exhibit when that came into town. Both of those were also worth it. I must say, if you get the chance, go see it. I’m almost sure it’s going to Philly after Chicago. But then it’s going to London.
.....to see the Boy King! King Tut..duh dut…
The only bad thing about this goal is having the Steve Martin song stuck in my head everytime I think about it!
Alexandra is home from work.
It was at the Portland Art Museum probably about 8-10 years ago. So cool. Makes me want to be an egyptologist.
