mrsschapiroThe Leash.

I am slowly taking control of the leash.
I dislike being pulled every time I walk my dog. 1 month ago

I completely forgot about this goal even though every day my dog upsets me during our walks! 2 months ago

Ok, I have been really lame with the dog walking for my dog has been a nightmare sometimes to walk.
I want this goal out of my goal list this year.
There’s no giving up. 3 months ago

mrsschapiro2013 is the year

I need my dog to stop pulling the leash.
I will tackle one problem at a time.
I already started and sometimes he pulls, sometimes I pull back, sometimes I let him because he is looking for a place to pee. 4 months ago

mrsschapiroStarting soon for sure...

sadly one of my dogs will have to be put down. His cancer has spread and there’s nothing that can be done.
I’ll train my remaining dog then, because it was hard when the other one was sick. 4 months ago

mrsschapiroHas anyone heard of facebook for dogs??

There’s this cool website that I found online that’s really cool.
I don’t want to post a link so people won’t feel that it’s a virus so just look up on google for PetRascals.com

You can post pics, mention other animals on it, write on your wall, it’s like facebook but for animals! 4 months ago

mrsschapirovets can be mistaken

I don’t think I’ll have to put my dog down anymore! \0/
But since the dog is on medication and needs to stop to poop and whatnot, I’m having a hard time training them to walk with me.
I’ll try again next month, when he will be (hopefully) done with meds. 6 months ago

mrsschapiro:(

I might have to put one of my dogs down due to some huge tumor/cancer growing inside him. The lab results will come out tomorrow.
I will train my other dog once the other one is….. gone. Hopefully it won’t be necessary to put him down. But he is in pain. 6 months ago

After a week out of town I intend to really try this time with my dogs. They were pretty good today on their walk. 9 months ago

mrsschapiroNeed to be a better dog owner...

After two vet visits and U$600 spent in medications and exams for both dogs, I realized that I am not as great as a dog owner as I thought I was. One dog has a yeast infection besides the itching caused by his allergy to flea bites and the other dog has some issues going on that might require a surgery.

I was trying to do one thing before doing the basic.
This month I’ll:

  • bathe one dog twice a week due to his yeast infection
  • feed the other dog religiously his medications
  • brush dogs 2-3 times a week
  • keep up with the regular walking routine
  • take dogs to the park to socialize with their kind
  • clean one of my dog’s ears once a week

The idea is to keep them healthy so they won’t need to pay another visit to the vet this year (they already had their shots). Meanwhile, I’ll train them. 11 months ago

Trauma_Junkie3 new improvements

When getting ready for walking, he now comes consistently and sits, waiting for the leash, rather than rolling into a submissive position, which makes it quite difficult to get the leash on him.

He consistently drops just about anything that I ask him to drop on our walks. (He just loves rocks…)

He is starting to tolerate grooming well.

I admit, I really did not do that much to improve this, just being consistent, and repeating what needed to be repeated. I do think the fact that he is 5 now, and not 5 mos is helping him lots.

He is getting better at walking by people, but still overexcited… 12 months ago

Today the walk was better – I was in a hurry though.
I have to do that everyday. I will do it for the rest of this week and see how we go. It would be nice to walk on the boardwalk, at the beach, rather than on the gray streets… 12 months ago

Sometimes my dogs are pretty good….
At home they have been terrible brats, searching the trash can, opening the pantry and eating food (and their medicine!), jumping on the sofa… I don’t really reinforce anything..
Maybe I will have to get a trainer. But who? 13 months ago

daughterofhisimageFinished!

You’re going to laugh, but how I completed this was by getting another dog, lol. Our dog was hyper and did not want to calm and listen. With a puppy by her side she plays herself into exhaustion now and listens well. We’ve been better dedication to training, walking, etc. They’re both good dogs. 13 months ago
