Whenever I start driving BY MYSELF, then I can randomly call my intellectual friends up and say, “hey wanna grab some coffee and read some very deep poetry?” It’s gonna be rad.

    Awesome Idea! 2 years ago

This is an awesome goal!! It’ll be so interesting going out for coffee with someone completely new each week! You will learn so much, and thus become a more interesting person yourself. I can’t wait to do this!

Wow, I just realized how long it’s been since I did this…at least intentionally. Lately I’ve been drinking coffee with myself a lot since i don’t know too many people who live nearby anymore.
Last week I spent a lunch break sitting in Starbucks, though, and i ended up spending a half hour talking to an eighty year old man who was on his way to go see a movie by himself. That just reminded me of this goal, and it reminded me of why i used to spend so much time talking to strangers.

my last two coffee dates were good, but... 4 years ago

yesterday at around midnight i made the mistake of agreeing to get coffee with the most annoying, self-absorbed, fakely-spiritual freak ever. he wore all black with tons of metal jewelery and big holes in his pants and rambled how he doesn’t like to associate with people who don’t have as good an image as he does. he got so caught up in his stories and nonsensical philosophical rants that it took him at least an hour to start stirring honey into his tea…i’m not exaggerating. and he was the type of talker that talks and talks and talks so that there’s no room for you to cut in and say, “it was lovely to meet you, but i’m going home.”
