The scoop 6 months ago

Today I got some info about the chickens. It is legal to have chickens in the city of Atlanta, but the chickens have to be confined to a coop. They can never be out in the yard wandering around. Today I saw the Siamese on the roof of the coop. So far she has been afraid of the chickens but now that they are contained, she seems to enjoy watching them.

I stood on a bench to get this photo. The coop looks nice! Very roomy.

Strange happenings 6 months ago

I came home from a short stay with family a few days ago and heard from my next door neighbor that a brown hen was “hanging out” in my yard. This is totally strange because I live in downtown Atlanta. It turns out that the wooden dog house the “crazy neighbors” built in the yard of the house they are renting, is actually a coop!! They have 2 brown hens and those hens have been strutting their stuff all up and down the street. I have no idea why the coop door is open right now. Their Siamese cat is afraid of the hens! She wont come up on the porch anymore and she seems on edge, when you call her she runs away. Never a dull moment!

Confrontation #2 13 months ago

My crazy neighbors created a large open fire in the backyard of the house they are renting on Saturday. At first I thought this fire must be for grilling so I waited and then witnessed it rise higher and higher above the fence line.
Just an FYI for anyone who is not familiar with Georgia, we are experiencing a severe drought! We have a water crisis here that has caused us to beg and steal water from Tennessee.
After about 2 hours of watching this fire, I searched on line and found a fire ban document from the City of Atlanta, I printed it out, and folded it up and put it in my jeans.
I walked over and approached one of the guys and got a clear view of TREEEEEESSSSS!!! smalll trees draped over a huge open unsecure fire. There were no rocks, no pit, and no water hose!!!!
So to make a long story short, I called the non emergency line of “911”, and the fire dept came out. They can be angry at me FOREVER.

Bongos on the porch 15 months ago

In the early hours this morning, I woke up to what I thought was just some drum music from a car passing by. Oh no…it is my crazy weed loving drunken neighbors. I guess they got the urge to drum circle before the crack of dawn. This infuriated me! I have wanted to confront them since they moved in 6 weeks ago, just about other issues and never did. This time I just yelled at them. They live two houses down and they are renting from some hands-off homeowner who does not seem to care who he rents to.We will see how this gets resolved. I guess I can add their home to my Nickel Tour goal since it seems to be the new novelty attraction in my hood.
