Yesterday, as we left for the library, I got my first letter, which allowed me to prove our new address and get our new cards! We spent the majority of our time in the kids section, found out when they have story time, admired their comfy couches and very cool table (with creative 3-d alphabet/number boxes under glass), and checked out several books.
Fortunately Isak decided that even though he could take out 25, that was too much to carry home. We also found out we can return the books from the old library to the new one, and both their hours and selection are much, much better. We’re loving the new library, and thrilled to have use of it so quickly.

I’ve had and happily used a library card since I was a kid (and Isak has had his own for a while now), but since we moved out of the area covered by our old cards , we have to apply for new ones out here. I don’t have any id with the new address on it, so I’m hoping I can make do.
Sunday afternoon we walked to the new library to check it out – it’s one I’d never been to, and looks really lovely! I spoke with a very nice librarian and picked up the new card applications. Today we’re walking over with them. Hopefully we’ll be able to use our old cards there until the new ones arrive.

Gemmie♥ in England is going to spend tomorrow completing goals!
I haven’t lived in this town for very long and I discovered the library a few days ago!
I haven’t been for years, but as I’ve got some free time on my hands I should really go and sign up.
Hey, free books, woop!

I am buying all those books, why I just don’t borrow them from library. Especially novels that I read for fun, to pass the time, to lough, nothing serious, nothing that I actually would like to have. Library! – that’s a solution, that will let me have more space at home and … save money. I like it.

Jesus Christ, this is madness! I’ve spent the past few YEARS spending more money on books than I do on anything else, though I suspect I’ve hardly read 20 per cent of the hundreds of volumes I’ve managed to amass (I tend to abandon some of the books I read after just 100-200 of pages for various reasons) and I’m now trying VERY hard to resist the temptation of buying FOUR more (“Dangerous Liaisons” by Mr. de Laclos, “The Gambler” by Mr. Dostoyewski, “Sophie’s World” by Mr. Gaardner – I have this one in the PDF format, but after 250 pages my eyes already hurt – and a history of philosophy in three volumes written by one Mr. Tatarkiewicz).
It’s Easter time now and the local library is closed, but I DO need a library card and I’m determined to go and get one as soon as the holiday is over!

There is a library approx 3 miles from my house. I walk to work a lot (10 miles cumulative) so 3 miles isn’t too bad at all. I think I will do this goal along with my running goal! Two birds with one stone indeed! Now I will have a reason to get my butt outside and walk/run AND I get the books I want to read for free AND I have to lug them back on foot to the library so that’s extra workout for me!

It is amazing to me that I have not actually done this yet. I know the library here has funny hours and that they conflict with my work hours but there is always Saturday. I could go get the card on Saturday. This Saturday I am gettin my library card !
