... it is not clear to me that this is a good idea. Breakfast in bed was one of the things I enjoyed, and it was a single event. Now it seems that breakfast has become another thing I do while doing other things. It has not really succeeded in getting me out of bed earlier, but at least I can no longer blame it.
It is possible to change long-standing customs. Whether it is wise to do so is another question. 9 months ago
Yonder see the morning blink,
The sun is up and up must I
To wash and dress and eat and drink
And look at things and talk and think
And God knows why.
Oh, often have I washed and dressed,
and what’s to show for all my pain?
Ten thousand times I’ve done my best,
And all’s to do again.
I’m sure I can do this now on a regular basis. 9 months ago

Up before dawn. Breakfast after packing and loading. 9 months ago
Today was one of those days that would have been perfect for breakfast in bed, followed by more sleep. I did get to bed early enough, but I had not slept well, being wound up because of last night’s successful speechcraft. But I dragged myself out, washed dressed, had breakfast, and went to the gym.
I’ll probably have to have a serious nap later. 10 months ago
Got up a little after the alarm went off, washed, dressed, had breakfast. But sadly, lied down for some relaxation exercise and fell asleep. So, +1 for breakfast with my boots on, but -1 for falling asleep.
Actually, no, it’s not -1 for falling asleep. That was part of the deal: if I needed more sleep in the morning after breakfast I could have it. But it didn’t work out well: I only felt guilty, not rested. 10 months ago
Got up with the alarm, dressed, breakfasted. No sugar for the porridge, so I went shopping after gym. Desk at 09:30. 10 months ago

Day three was market day, but still, I was washed and dressed before I ate breakfast.
Day four was surprising. It was Sunday, the traditional, deeply-ingrained breakfast-in-bed habit day. I woke fairly late, but still got up and dressed before breakfast. 10 months ago
