My mom died of breast cancer.

I know I should be having a mammogram every year, but I don’t. The last time, they called me in for a follow-up ultrasound. It wasn’t cancer, but it was terrifying. I haven’t been able to go back since

Occasionally I try to do self-exams, but I always find some kind of lump, then panic & ignore it.

My OBGYN died, and I haven’t had my annual exam in over four years. My family doc says I need find a new OBGYN, but I’m paralyzed with fear.

It’s not like me to let a little fear stop me… so why don’t I just take a deep breath & do it? Why am I burying my head in the sand when my LIFE is at stake?

Does anyone else have these fears & how did you conquer them? 15 months ago

The monthly mails lead me to setup a monthly appointment in outlook – I don’t dismis it until I’m done. Sometimes that’s a few days late (like today, the 17th instead of the 12th) but that is just fine. I didn’t do this at all before – thanks Cheryl for starting this! 16 months ago

I’ve had spotty internet and stressful times lately, so I haven’t been keeping up. However, I am happy to report that I am all clear and doing fine! My best to you all :) 17 months ago

Done this AM. Looks like I’m okay for another month and I know the dr will check them again next month. 20 months ago

The reason I am early is that I was having some pain in the underarm area a couple of days ago. Now, I know breast cancer very rarely results in pain but it put it in my mind and so I choose to just lay down and do this two days early. One less thing and of course everything was fine. The pain is gone and I think was just muscle soreness from working out. 21 months ago

I know this is one of those things you never complete and that I should keep it as a goal, but I just don’t want to hang onto it year after year. I can’t say I’ll now do this without having it on this list, but I did keep up with it fairly regularly for 2 years, so I’m going to give myself credit. 23 months ago
