How to smile at strangers

 "It was tough, but I just kept smiling and they finally responded!"
How I did it: I was working in a hospital. Every day, I'd pass by some "gloomy guss'es" and I'd give them a smile. It took 30 days for them to begin responding back with a smile. All the sudden, when they smiled back, the hallways lit up like the sun had just come through the walls! I was so happy about that and started to giggle a bit to myself. The satisfaction you gain from accomplishing something so small, is awesome! At the same time, you've managed to brighten someone else's day. When you're smiling the whole world smiles with you. Lessons & tips: Never give up. Just look for the gloomiest looking people and gain eye contact long enough to smile at them. You don't have to say a word. Sure, people may call you a "goodie-two-shoes" or "too bubbly" but ya know what? They are just upset that they aren't doing that themselves. I am the type of person that is annoyed if strangers strike up a conversation with me. Why? because im too busy to hear it. That is a horrible attitude to have. Im not very friendly and i realize that its a flaw. I am a very loyal and giving friend, but it takes time to earn my trust.

But if you smile at ppl some will smile back, and the best part is when somebody smiles at you first. I really like this one I havent been able to put to much input on this one due to other stuff going on in my life but I cant wait to do it!!

i’m usually pretty good at this, but my main problem is that i get really irritated when people don’t smile back. moreso to people in the neighborhood that i see everyday and they just never make the effort to smile back even once.

I accidently fell on a woman on the train and she was upset. so i apolgised and she was still bothered.. so i leand into her face and screamed HEY! SMILE! and smiled widely. it was bissare

I don’t know why but I’ve always smiled at complete strangers, or at least say hi to them or something. I’m a somewhat shy person but for some reason this just doesn’t bother me. There are a lot of people who actually do smile back! It’s true though, males do get the wrong idea almost every single time…but still worth doing! Even if they don’t smile back, at least you know you did your part.

I’ve been doing this lots, and I’m amazed at how few people smile back! Most people look scared, as though I’m about to ask them for something or attack them! Still, I’m making the effort, and for those that smile back, thank you very much! :D

No offense about the title. But I said hi to some guy a few days ago, and he replied with a “Thats what I’m talking about, baby.” So he was talking about exchanging pleasantries? I guess I’ll keep it to a smile :)
